Since 2015, April 15th means a Death & Taxes.
Today, I made it to Kings Row Gastropub & had my favorite bartender mix one up. Still feels like the right way to mark the day.
Anyone else have a date-specific tradition like this?

🎄🍸 25 Days of Christmas Cocktails, Day 25
A Stranger in the Alps.
Gin, sweet vermouth, Campari, Braulio, with a Fernet rinse and lemon peel.
Bittersweet, alpine, and contemplative.
Thanks for joining us for 25 Days of Christmas Cocktails. See you next year. – at San Marino, CA
🎄🍸 25 Days of Christmas Cocktails, Day 24
Christmas Eve called for my dad’s barrel-aged Manhattan: Hickory Hill & Bulleit rye, Dolin Rouge, Angostura + orange bitters, Luxardo cherry.
Strong, stirred, and saved for nights that matter. – at San Marino, CA
🎄🍸 25 Days of Christmas Cocktails, Day 23
The Pasadena Christmas: Tequila, Mezcal, Yellow Chartreuse & Manzanilla Sherry, finished with a light Laphroaig spritz.
A drier, brighter riff on the Santa Clara Christmas. Fire pits, smoke, & a Southern California Christmas night. – at San Marino, CA
Day 22 of #25DaysOfChristmasCocktails
You’ll Shoot Your Eye Out

Day 21 of #25DaysOfChristmasCocktails
And To All a Good Night
Bourbon, reposado tequila, Cherry Heering, orange bitters. Stirred, no garnish.
Usually a Christmas Eve drink, but after a long, reflective day, it felt right tonight. Quiet, warming, and meant for slowing down. – at San Marino, CA

Day 19 of #25DaysOfChristmasCocktails
My homemade aged eggnog. This one has Bourbon, Sweet Vermouth, and Cynar, to somewhat replicate a Boulevardier profile (I didn't think Campari would work with the eggs and cream). This has aged over a year. – at San Marino, CA
Day 19 of #25DaysOfChristmasCocktails
Keoke Coffee ☕
Brandy, crème de cacao, Kahlúa, hot coffee, whipped cream.
Not usually a dessert drink person, but this was a longtime favorite of my mom and dad since the 90s.
Some cocktails are about memory more than anything else. – at San Marino, CA
Day 18 of #25DaysofChristmasCocktails
Chimney Sweep. A Boulevardier riff with Cynar and chocolate bitters. Instead of Laphroaig, I used a glass smoker with cherry wood for a very bold smoky note.
Dark, bitter, and perfect for winter. 🥃🔥🎄 – at San Marino, CA
Day 17 of #25DaysofChristmasCocktails
A small pour of my dad’s barrel aged Rob Roy tonight. Monkey Shoulder Scotch and Dolin Rouge, aged six weeks, finished with Angostura and a cherry.
Not much left. Exactly the right time to enjoy it. 🥃🎄 – at San Marino, CA
#25DaysofChristmasCocktails, Day 16
The Little Tree 🌲
A Gin Old Fashioned with homemade Noble Fir needle simple syrup, lemon bitters, and a rosemary sprig.
Evergreen, restrained, and very much of the season.
Sometimes the simplest drinks say the most. 🍸🎄 – at San Marino, CA
Day 15 of #25DaysOfChristmasCocktails
The Ferrari.
Equal parts Campari and Fernet Branca.
Usually a shot, but I prefer it stirred, over a large cube, with an orange peel. Bold, bitter, bright red, and surprisingly perfect for the season. 🍊🥃 – at San Marino, CA
25 Days of Christmas Cocktails, Day 14
French 75
One of my dad’s favorites, and one we served at last night’s holiday open house in his honor. Gin, lemon, simple syrup, topped with sparkling wine. Simple, classic, celebratory.

Day 12 of my 25 Days of Christmas Cocktails.
The Christmas Card from "Booze & Vinyl: Christmas."
Dry vermouth, Bénédictine, absinthe. Low ABV and quietly festive.
Listening to Bing Crosby’s "Christmas Gems" tonight.

🎄🍸 25 Days of #Christmas #Cocktails, 2025 Edition, Day 10 A day late posting! This is a Vesper as made by my favorite bartender and friend, Jen. She uses all Gin (no Vodka) which I prefer. Cheers! – at San Marino, CA
Day 9 of my 25 Days of Christmas Cocktails.
Pink Gin made with Secret Garden Christmas Gin from Edinburgh.
Cranberry bitters for a holiday twist and a lemon garnish because I was out of limes.
Simple, aromatic, and perfect for a cold night.

🎄 25 Days of Christmas Cocktails, Day 8
Tonight’s drink: Cool Yule from "Booze & Vinyl: Christmas."

Rich, bright, perfect for a winter night.
More Xmas cocktails tomorrow!
