I love talking about the NFL and plan on working with the league in some capacity in the future. So let's talk some football! #NFL
Releasing Daniel Jones before June 1st would only create $11.6M in cap space and result in $35.2M in dead money.
Plus $26.4M in dead money & no cap space created for 2028.
If the Colts release Daniel Jones after June 1st, they will create $38 million in cap space in the upcoming offseason.
Seems like a no-brainer at this point.
Shane Steichen on a quarterback change (courtesy of @WISHNews8):
"No, I have not thought about a quarterback change."
Why?
"Because I have a ton of faith in Daniel..."
Cody Manning retweeted
Vikings blitzed Daniel Jones on 85% of his dropbacks, the highest rate for any NFL team in the past 20 seasons, per ESPN Research.
Daniel Jones just couldn't go the game without committing a turnover.
He tried tight throws all game and got lucky.
This time Harrison Smith gets his hands on it.
An inexcusable decision by Jones.
Colts are 2-5.
The Vikings were able to get in field goal position. Kenneth Harris just missed getting his hands on the ball for an interception.
Will Reichard makes his 52-yard attempt to make it a 16-10 game.
1:39 & 1 timeout for the Colts to score a touchdown.
The Colts get in scoring position but stall out after Seth McGowan gets stuffed on a 3rd & 2 run.
The drive goes to waste after Spencer Shrader missed his 48-yard attempt. It's been a rough second half for him.
The Vikings cross midfield but the Colts hold Minnesota to a field goal.
Adetomiwa Adebawore came up big on a 2nd down sack.
Grover Stewart blocked the field goal attempt.
Indianapolis will have great field position.
The Colts end up having to punt after picking up a first down on the first set of downs.
Feels like if the Indianapolis can't force a turnover, this game is on the edge of getting away from them.
The Colts lead is gone.
After a 35-yard run by Kyler Murray on 3rd down to get inside the 10-yard line, Murray finds T.J. Hockenson for the touchdown.
Vikings lead 13-10.
The Colts cross midfield but stall out and are held to a field goal.
Spencer Shrader missed his 56-yard field goal attempt.
Rough end to what was looking like a good drive.
The Colts force a three-and-out after Cam Taylor-Britt makes a great open field tackle on a Kyler Murray on a 3rd down scramble.
After two straight Jonathan Taylor runs to pick up the first down, it was followed up by two straight Daniel Jones sacks that out the Colts in a 3rd & 33 which ti no surprise, they didn't convert and start the second half with a punt.
Colts Halftime Notes:
- Jonathan Taylor has 53 rushing yards (38-yard TD) on 8 attempts. His touchdown run is the difference maker thus far.
- Justin Jefferson has 4 rec 44 yards. He's moving the chains. Gotta take him away on 3rd downs.
- Daniel Jones is 6/11 50 yards. At some point he's gonna need to take a shot play to Burks or Dulin.
- 3rd downs have favored IND. They are 5/8 on offense and the defense held MIN to 2/7.
- 0 turnovers. Just 1 can flip this game. IND needs to keep protecting the ball.
