We want to clear up a bit of confusion.
@CoinCards and Coldcard/Coinkite are separate companies.
We have used the name Coincards longer than the coldcard has been around.
When coldcard was created, we asked NVK to reconsider the name. He laughed it off "it's not even close".
With all that's going on, the name is often being used interchangeably on social media. We are also getting support requests to our site for Coinkite products.
To everyone affected by the situation, we're genuinely sorry you're having to deal with it. As fellow Bitcoiners, we know how stressful anything involving your savings or self-custody can be, and we hope everyone is able to get everything sorted safely.
Wishing everyone the best. ❤️
Foundation just had spam go out from its real domains after Cloudflare API keys leaked.
Lesson for everyone: a legit sender address doesn't mean a legit email.
No real wallet company will ever ask for your seed phrase. 🟧
ANNOUNCEMENT: SPAM EMAILS HAVE BEEN SENT THAT APPEAR TO HAVE COME FROM OFFICIAL FOUNDATION DOMAINS.
We have traced this back to one or more compromised API keys on Cloudflare, and have already revoked all API keys.
The malicious domain in the spam email has been taken down.
Funds stored on Passport are safe and Passport hardware is not compromised.
We are working nonstop to discover exactly what happened and will put out a report ASAP.
Electrum disclosed that some servers hide your transaction and show a fake one. Users on their own or a trusted server weren't affected. That's "don't trust, verify" in practice. Update to 4.8.3. 🟧

Coming soon to Coincards...
Half the gift card world is on fire this week. A lot of providers and distributors are having issues right now.
Our store's reaction: quietly set anything that can't deliver to our of stock and keep selling the rest for sats.
We keep building! 🟧

Bitchat hit No. 1 on France's App Store social chart after a ten-hour Orange outage and talk of social media blocks.
People want tools nobody can switch off. 🟧

Halloween is creeping closer. 🎃
We all have our own “when we were kids” version of it.
Homemade costumes. Racing around with friends trying to squeeze in one more house.
Dumping the night’s haul all over the floor afterward to see what you got, what you were keeping and what was up for trade.
However you remember Halloween, get ready to have some fun with it this year. 🧡
The UK has spent three years designing a digital pound.
This week it told every household to keep cash at home in case electronic payments go down.
Even they don't fully trust the rails they're building. 🟧

Some crypto apps want to be your bank, your broker and your life coach.
We just want to sell you a gift card for sats.
Sats in, card out, no balance to babysit, nobody holding your money hostage. Just a shop. 🟧

Patched and back online.
We'd rather go dark for a few hours than take chances with your orders, so that's what we did.
Gift cards for bitcoin and Lightning are open again. Thanks for hanging in there. 🟧

YouTube pulled two Bitcoin channels in one day. Simply Bitcoin was back within about an hour, and The Bitcoin Conference is still gone.
If your audience only lives on someone else's server, they decide when you get to talk.
Run your own stuff. 🟧
Ask us something on X or Nostr and a real person reads it.
We try to answer every reply and mention, and if you spot something broken, tell us.
We'll look into it and let you know what's going on. 🟧
A few German savings banks started selling bitcoin in the Sparkasse app today for €0.99 an order.
The coins sit in DekaBank's pooled wallet, and you can only send them to approved crypto companies, not your own hardware wallet.
That's a bank IOU. 🟧
Canadians who come back average 10.5 orders each. Americans, 8.6.
That's not people trying bitcoin once.
That's people living on it. 🟧

Building privacy technology shouldn't mean developers and their families have to live in fear for innovating.
We haven't forgotten Keonne, Bill, or their families, including Lauren (@leamuirleyn), who continues to advocate for Keonne.

Replying to @CoinCards @keonne
They never had custody of anyone's money yet they get called an illegal money transmitter and jailed.
Meanwhile bank of america actually launders billions, pays a fine less than their profits, and no one goes to jail.
History will remember this injustice.

We did the math.
Most crypto gift card sites upcharge on Amazon.ca cards, usually 5 to 10%, quite often "hidden"
Ours are face value: a $20 card for $20 in sats with Bitcoin or Lightning.
No wonder we sell out constantly. 🟧
