JUST IN: Binance has revealed new details about the $6.3 billion October 29 hack, uncovering a sophisticated, multi stage attack targeting its internal systems. According to the investigation, hackers used fake job interviews and malicious software to compromise an engineer's computer before exploiting an internal AI tool to gain access to other employees and wallet infrastructure. The attackers reportedly stole employee credentials and deployed a malicious container, allowing five hot wallets to transfer 233.46 million $XRP within just four minutes. Wallets holding $SOL, $OP and $BTC were also affected. Binance says approximately $2.85 billion in assets have since been frozen or intercepted. The exchange has rebuilt affected systems, replaced compromised devices, revoked credentials and strengthened its security measures. It is also planning an independent cybersecurity audit and further investment in AI security to prevent similar attacks in the future.
