“I was a bit bummed out that this last camp my name wasn't called up, but you know, that's how it is. It means I have to keep working hard.” Paderborn midfielder Santiago Castañeda, also eligible for Colombia, admits he hasn’t had contact with USMNT yet. He’s played for U.S. U-20s and U-23s. And he was asked if he’s spoken to Mauricio Pochettino by The Gegenpressing Podcast 🗣️ “I haven't heard anything from [Mauricio] Pochettino and have no contact with the first team of the U.S.,” the 21-year-old said. “I mean hopefully soon. You know, I was a bit bummed out that this last camp my name wasn't called up. “But that's how it is. It means I have to keep working hard, and keep my level high, you know? “And right now just focus on myself and hopefully sooner or later that call comes and I'll be ready. I'll be ready whenever that call comes. “Of course, Colombia is on my mind, it's in my blood. It's a part of me as well. “When I was younger, every summer I used to go to Colombia and visit and be there for a month at least. “So yeah, of course, Colombian national team is also on my mind and could be an option. “But I think right now, I will let God take care of things and just focus on myself.” Castañeda was born and raised in Florida to Colombian parents and moved to Germany at 18 to continue his professional development. He had another amazing performance in the Bundesliga earlier today for Paderborn.
