Travis Knight says the final battle in ‘WILDWOOD’ is the most difficult sequence ever made at LAIKA.
“It required us to use every single technique… It's a combination of hand drawn animation, stop-motion animation, CG animation & it’s something to behold.”

So, Wildwood is terrific. A lot of old folks like me wish for the dark, quasi-traumatic family film of our youths. We don’t get them very often, but Wildwood fits the bill. High fantasy, real stakes, complicated characters, incredible animation. Long live Laika.
The Conservatives didn’t win as much as the NDP lost. The Conservatives got 50,000 less votes than 2024. Both the Vancouver and provincial election show a rejection of neoliberalism and that people want bold system-change ideas, not milquetoast centrism.

reminder that David Eby wasn’t elected by people into party leadership - he was essentially appointed into premiership when the BCNDP party brass blocked Anjali Appadurai because she got people excited - a major scandal - he became the leader by default without a vote, then this

The entire BC NDP shoulders the blame for this by totally ratfucking Anjali Appadurai by the way. Eby couldn't win on his own in the first place because his political instincts have been dog shit from day one and even casual observers could see this happening a mile out
Replying to @Cam_Oflage
A cynical, vain, uncharismatic technocrat who believed in nothing beyond poll-chasing &his own superior cleverness
No real political skill other than Littlefingering his way to the top of party's internal politics, eventually leaving it w barely any veteran hands OR rising stars

Eby lost this election through multiple egregious mistakes, arrogance & lack of political skill.
But we also need to see his catastrophic loss as proof of what happens when "progressives" swing to the right.
Eby is not the first centrist to be shown this.

BREAKING: Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan have issued a joint declaration accusing Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories of being the FUNDAMENTAL SOURCE of instability across the Middle East, demanding an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Indian national and Vancouver City Councillor Devyani Singh wants non-citizens to be able to vote and claims “that the cause of affordability, and housing, and the climate crisis” is all about “corporate greed.”
The solution? Smash the billionaires!

I’m always astonished that billionaires would rather ignore the climate crisis and prepare to live in a bunker with dvds and baked beans than devote a modicum of their bottomless wealth to saving the planet where we have fresh fruit and soft grass and blue skies.

City councillor Solomon Yi-Kieran and their COPE colleagues reflect on the role Vancouver’s young people had on the election — and look ahead at what the new government will do for them:
“This election has shown us how much young people actually do care about politics.”

Vancouver elected a Green Mayor, and a majority progressive council – with socialist Sean Orr getting the most council votes.
Standing for something will always be more desirable to the electorate over milquetoast centrism.

Congrats to Pete Fry, Lucy Maloney, Sean Orr, and the rest of the COPE and Green councilors who won their seats. Mike Klassen, we're willing to talk if you ever unblock us.
The next 4 years are going to be very different than the last!

People are very unhappy in France as they are in many places.
There are no opportunities for young people, Education is unaffordable, Rent is extortionate, buying a house impossible, decent jobs don't exist.
All while billionaires become trillionaires.
People are sick of it.
