Congratulations to @COLFESdrama, the cast and the crew of #IntoTheWoods - loved it!
After #Wordle success with Yr10 this morning, this afternoon brought Yr12 essays (appropriately) referencing @CaptainAmerica’s Twitter account and @Harry_Styles #Eroda website in a discussion of #postmodernism. What a day!
We update #poemoftheweek every Friday, but this one's for #HolocaustMemorialDay yesterday.
#PoemOfTheWeek is ‘White Comedy’ by the fabulous Benjamin Zephaniah @BZephaniah #BlackHistoryMonth #DyslexiaAwarenessWeek
Aptly late, but this is #PoemOfTheWeek on our notice board.
Congratulations to the Year 7 and 8 pupils who came third in the National Reading Champions final earlier today. Great organisation by @COLFESlibrary internally and @Literacy_Trust and @mrdillypresents externally - thank you all! #NRCQuiz2021
Year 12 - if you’re wondering how to fit in a book around exam revision this half term, I strongly recommend @CalebANelson’s #OpenWater. It’s short, set locally and made me cry. theguardian.com/books/2021/f…
#WorldPoetryDay Poetry can be uplifting or heartbreaking or funny or inspiring. Some poems do it all at the same time. This is one I’ve been coming back to recently: youtu.be/qviM_GnJbOM

Accidentally deleted this link for @COLFESlibrary while trying to sort out the numbers on a thread. (Lucky we’re not the IT or the Maths department). New YA book prize:
A great choice from a great list. Another of Adichie’s wonderful novels, Purple Hibiscus, has just appeared on the list of GCSE texts, and will be the class novel for Year 10. (We’ve also chosen it as the virtual Bookclub book for Years 11-13, for whom it wasn’t an option.)
Missed our midnight reveal? For those who aren't night owls, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has been crowned your 'Winner of Winners.'
You voted in your thousands & chose her book Half of a Yellow Sun from 25 years of incredible #WomensPrize winners: bit.ly/Winner_of_Winners
My Top 5, in no particular order - The Power, On Beauty, How to be Both, Home Fire and Song of Achilles. Can’t choose, and I haven’t even read Hamnet yet!
Which is your favourite ever #WomensPrize winner?
From Maggie O'Farrell's Hamnet to Zadie Smith's On Beauty, which book gets your vote?
Choose your favourite and help us crown our Winner of Winners in November: bit.ly/Choose_Your_Winner
What do English teachers do at the weekend? Build a library in the loft. (Forgive the gaps - many books still boxed up in storage.)
Try something new....

Hope everyone had a good first week back. I’ve just finished off the week watching #ThreeKings starring Andrew Scott, live-streamed from @oldvictheatre - fantastic and highly recommended. #NewNormal #SupportTheArts
If you haven’t got around to this yet, try to make time before it vanishes. Fantastic production. #Coriolanus
⚔ Only a couple of days left to catch the @DonmarWarehouse's thrilling production of #Coriolanus with #NationalTheatreAtHome: youtu.be/XHqkEruwBT0
