At the outset of the BC election, I thought the only way the Conservatives would lose was if they got too soft and lost support to OneBC. So while OneBC was utterly blown out, I do believe they had an outsized impact on preventing the BC Cons from getting scared and turtling.

In another case, an immigrant carjacker who tried to murder a cop was told "systemic racism" had made him do it ... only for the judge to note that his victims were also "racialized," which made the crime more serious. We've never seen institutionalized racism quite like this.
In just 15 days, I found *two* separate instances in which a career criminal was sentenced for pimping out an Indigenous girl ... only to have his sentence reduced because he was black and "systemic racism" had made him do it. nationalpost.com/opinion/fir…

The ghost that follows Doug Ford everywhere screaming at him not to do anything may already be following Lorne Doerkson. Every time he gives a speech just remember that he's actively needing to screen out an invisible do-nothing ghost that only he can see.

It’s very disappointing to see people who usually defend democracy somehow excuse the blatant irregularities in Brazil’s election as being acceptable to “stop authoritarianism”. Even if you agree that the polls should have been extended, the fact the order to do so was received so late meant that many municipalities had already closed their election stations and were forbidden from reopening them. It seems extremely suspicious in the least that the areas that hadn’t closed them were all seemingly Lula bastions. An election lacks integrity if rules are inconsistently applied. Even Lula partisans should be able to understand that. Unless of course they are more interested in their favoured candidate winning rather than democracy itself.

Following their historic landslide victory, the BC Conservatives have secured a majority government. Yet beyond the legislature, the NDP continue to control nearly every public body, from ICBC to BC Ferries, filling key positions with their own appointees. Without holding government, the NDP still command the state apparatus. They have never been the province's 'natural governing party', but if allowed to maintain their institutional footprint, they will come to be seen as the norm rather than the exception. If the @Conservative_BC intend to undo the last decade, they must purge these partisans, shrink the government payroll, and reform the public sector. Policy is essential, but political power is decisive, and without broader institutional control, the new government will be left managing a hostile bureaucracy. I grew up in the most "diverse" most "multicultural" part of Halifax. Many immigrants are good people who are just trying to make their own lives better. However, that doesn't change the fact the volume and persistence of the inflow has progressively ethnically cleansed where I grew up of Canadians. Then there is the clashing of cultures like immigrants demanding we stop traditions like singing happy birthday, or the national anthem, or demanding their foreign religions get equal status. The pervasive feeling of being out of place in your homeland when foreigners dominate all the service jobs with thick accents and little effort to even pretend to assimilate. The sporadic welcome sigh of relief when the service worker you interact with is a local and you no longer have to fight through a language barrier in your ancestral home to buy a muffin. Then you have a child and you go to the hospital and every time you feel like a foreigner where you grew up. The nurses are foreign. The doctors are foreign. The other patients in the waiting room are all foreign. Blessedly, you will find the occasional local who is still somehow employed and can rest easy not having language and cultural jargon complicating your healthcare visit. My life is profoundly made worse every single day by immigration. At no point is my life made remotely better. "But we wouldn't have enough doctors" yea we would moron everyone at the hospital waiting room is always a foreigner! Even at a family doctor easily 50% of the waiting room is foreign. Every time. This is all before we consider that they bid up housing prices, they bid down wages, and feckless politicians start kowtowing to foreign voting blocks who want to import whatever foreign customs the largest local group has here. Immigration is not intrinsically bad. Taken as an individual most immigrants are good people. Yet our system as it has existed since 1987 is immoral and only serves to destroy the Canadian people and enrich some corporate big wigs who make money off the labour arbitrage or inflated land values. The only people who support our immigration regime are those who wish to gain power by using the immigrants as voters, the immigrants themselves, or good slaves to a morally depraved merchant class who would sell their own mother for $5.
Claim: The only people who want to give more power to provinces to control and restrict immigration are people who hardly ever come across a real live immigrant in their daily lives. The poeple who *do* interact regularly with immigrants don't have any problem with them.

The actual question was: " Do you support the Government of Alberta working with the governments of other willing provinces to amend the Canadian Constitution to give a pack of feral dogs J.J. McCullough's scent?" It's important context to list the whole question!

Really? You don't think adding 30,000 renters to a metro of 600,000 people in a single year might impact monthly rents? Is housing somehow immune to the laws of supply and demand?

To be demoralized is to have your sense of reality so inverted that you fail to recognize you are in a state of war, mistake those attacking you for victims, and willingly assist them in undermining your own society while believing you are doing something good.

'It is good that the native traditions of Quebec are finding a global audience. On the other hand, one side effect of Soirée canadienne’s online revival is the resurgent accusation that "Canada would have no culture without Quebec".' Though battered and suppressed nearly to a state of inconsciousness, Anglo-Canada is still the country's baseline culture, expressed in far more ordinary and unthinking ways than television or novelty food. 'The English language itself will continue to dominate, whether Canadians tell their own stories or somebody else’s. That being said, there is a great danger in mixing up the linguistic security of English with national permanence. In 2026, the survival of local cultures is a choice. Whether Anglo-Canada has the will or desire to consciously live as one, rather than be united merely by the lingua franca of an economic zone, will have enormous consequences for Canada — and not necessarily bad ones'.
