Sam Houston will play in the San Marcos Showdown this season.

Ahead of the seventh game of the season, Phil Longo thought any questions of change were "puzzling and not something I'm thinking about." His Bearkat squad logged 13 total yards in the first half against New Mexico State. The loss saw the Kats fall to 1-6 on the year, and 3-16 in the season and a half Longo has been the head coach. itemonline.com/sports/change…

Here is Phil Longo on the decision to call a timeout on 4th and inches.

FINAL | New Mexico State 30, Sam Houston 24 Despite having 13 yards at the half, Sam Houston was in it until the end against NMSU. The Bearkat offense had a total of 246 yards, but had plays of 81 yards and 53 yards. Between three passing plays, Sam Houston had 151 yards. This offense has looked stagnant over the last three games; the team was flagged 13 times for 119 yards and they burned all three second-half timeouts before the 12-minute mark of the first quarter. Midweek CUSA carries on next week for the Bearkats at Missouri State. Is this rock bottom?

Sam Houston may have a chance to win this game. Not having a timeout in this situation could cost them.

Looks like Sam Houston was delayed in getting the play call on second-and-10, and Landyn Locke called the final timeout with 12:08 left in the game.
