Relistening to Nona the Ninth and damn does Our Lady of the Passion have some excellent dialog. (And Moira Quirk is the kind of narrator that can make me smile on a run even as I’m being blasted by the Northeast cold.)

Holy moly. My first publication! Surrounded by insane authors in this issue. My story is for those single moms out there, trying their hardest, and the kids who have to grow up too fast anyway. The single mom who raised me says it’s good and I’ll take that W!!

Grief powers so many stories as it does this one by @sydneyficant137. But in stories of grief exists the chance for relief and this one does just that!

Greetings from the storysseur (it's a made up word, run with it.) Today, might I offer you a mouthful of dirt and the taste iron and moss? Read Everything in The Garden is Lovely by Hannah Yang in Apex Magazine: apex-magazine.com/short-fict…

Like others, I've been looking for ways to channel all of this...stuff inside me *makes flappy hand motions around midsection.* My first thought was chocolate. All of it. Bruce-in-Matilda style. My second thought: stories. (1/3)

And it occurred to me that I hadn't read short stories seriously until 2022. And boy was I missing out. Life is like a box of chocolates Forrest, and each one, is a story. So starting today, I want to pitch little brainfuls of yum to all of you (2/3)

Because I'm reading them anyway and I think more of you would LOVE them. (3/3)

What’s the word for “rereading your chapter for the 30th time and getting stuck at the same place with slow creeping dread that maybe this will never work out after all.” I’m sure there’s a German term for it

The fun part about writing is everything can be research. For instance today I’m watching Clueless and selections from season 1 of Buffy….because I’m writing something set in the 90s and need period-specific lingo.

Apex is an incredible zine, both in what it brings for us to feast on, and how they source the feast. This year they’ve implemented a double-reader process to combat any bias in selection. This means they care about the reader AND the writer. Help keep mags like that around? 🙏🏽
Tomorrow we launch our Kickstarter to fund @apexmag for 2025 and I am super nervous. The next 30 days determine how all of next year will go! So, join me tomorrow at 10am EST and let's make 2025 AMAZING! kickstarter.com/projects/ape…

“Can I really do this?” “Am I really doing this?” Heading to Clarion. Trying to say “yes!” With my whole chest

One of my favorites for the May issue of Apex. Owl pellets. Profane and biblically accurate bone angels. All in 1000 words. @Spencer_Nit shoves so much story in such a small space
My (very) short story is free to read in @apexmag today. It’s about making art out of bones, a failing marriage, and reclaiming your place in the world through art and action. I really love this piece and think you might, too.

Listen. I used to not be into body horror. Or horror in general. Let @hannahxyang change your mind and teach you a bit about how the world sees women (hint: it’s not good.)

Damn does the Jujutsu Kaisen anime opening go hard in the Shibuya arc. First show in a while where I don’t immediately hit skip on the intro
