It’s so important to take care of yourself as a teacher, & as a human. The picture on the left is my teacher ID 5 years ago. I found it the other day, in an old teacher bag. The picture on the right, I took a few days ago, after car duty. I’m down 110 pounds, & feel amazing. ❤️💪🏻

I haven’t posted to Twitter in many months. This isn’t school related. But, I think it’s so important to take care of ourselves. Here to say that I am officially down 99 pounds (over 3 years or so). I lost it slowly. The difference in my face, alone, is incredible to me. ❤️

Well, there’s a first time for everything. After 20 years of teaching, I am starting my 21st year virtually. In many ways, I feel like a first year teacher all over again. Here is the space that I have created at home. This is absolutely new territory. 📚📝🍎

Train like a Beast! Clean up like a Boss! I am loving my home gym in quarantine. But I had to be creative with workouts on vacation. I took resistance bands & dumbbells with me. I did cardio outside in 103-105 F heat index. I’ve been lifting heavier also. Loving the results. 💕

Down 91 pounds in 28 months 😊
The very last lab I got to do with my Cambridge Physical Science class, before school shut down. I happened to have a wonderful student teacher, and two amazing practicum students. On this day, there were 4 adults in my classroom. @ZooSchoolMNPS @CroftCambridge1 @lipscomb

We really enjoyed my new Lipscomb practicum students yesterday. It was their first day. All they had to do was observe. But, I was impressed that they jumped right in, to help students with two activities. We are so excited to have them. @ZooSchoolMNPS @lipscomb @CroftCambridge1

Oh, I am so sad! I will miss my friend and buddy, Mr. Comer so much. Croft won’t be the same without him. I am so excited about his new adventure. But I am super sad to not see him every day at work. Thanks for all you do, always, Mr. Comer. You will be missed. ❤️ @ZooSchoolMNPS

We love our monthly Siemens STEM days in our Physical Science class. The students love the labs they do with us. Thank you to @GretaKnudson for setting this up for us. It’s always so much fun. What a great partnership. @ZooSchoolMNPS @MNPS_STEAM @CroftCambridge1

Croft’s 8th grade Physical Science class had fun with dry ice. They investigated dry ice with a quarter (vibrates and ‘sings’), dry ice in cold water, dry ice hot water, & dry ice with soap. We had just studied phase changes in matter. @ZooSchoolMNPS @CroftCambridge1 @MNPS_STEAM

The soap was their favorite part. :)
Croft 8th graders doing a bird beak adaptation lab. We had studied Darwin, natural selection, variation, and adaptations. This included Darwin’s studies on Galapagos’ finches and their beaks. @ZooSchoolMNPS @MNPS_STEAM

Congrats to my former Croft Middle School student, JaCoby Stevens, (number 3 for the defense on LSU), for his National Championship win! I always knew he would do great things. I am so proud of you, JaCoby. Way to geaux Tigers! 💜💛💜 @ZooSchoolMNPS @jacobystevens7 @LSUfootball

These are some projects by my Physical Science students. They had to make a compound machine using two or more simple machines. We collaborated with their Cambridge ELA teacher, who had them design an invention using simple machines. @ZooSchoolMNPS @CroftCambridge1 @MNPS_STEAM

Today we did a semester reflection. The sheet had content, strengths, struggles, and goals questions. I also asked how I could grow. We then did a reflection & goals gallery walk. I loved when a student asked how I would answer the gallery walk posters. So I did. @ZooSchoolMNPS

Today was about family. Early Christmas at my mom’s house. We are Steelers fans, right in the heart of Nashville. We then went to ICE at Opryland. It was A Christmas Story theme. That is my favorite movie. My heart is so full today. 💛
Here is a video of a former Croft student, Jacoby Stevens. If you listen; they say his name. He plays for LSU. I love watching him. I had him in my science class, at Croft, years ago. He was an excellent student, & is an excellent young man. I am so proud of him. @ZooSchoolMNPS

I am SO proud of this former Croft Middle School student. I taught Jacoby Stevens in my science class, years ago. He was such a great student. I always knew he would do great things. I loved watching him play Saturday. Congrats to him and LSU, on their win. @ZooSchoolMNPS

I had a great time at the MNPS First Choice Festival tonight. The Croft booth was busy and buzzing, with a constant flow of families interested in our amazing school. Best booth there. Just saying 💙💚. It’s great to be a Croft Cougar! @ZooSchoolMNPS @KoolKuhlman @drlewisCROFT
I had so much fun at the pumpkin farm with my sweet son, earlier this week. I treasure every moment that I am blessed to spend with him. We have had such a great Fall Break. 🌻🎃🌻.
