A statement from Commissioner Allen: Being COVID-19 Positive
Thank you for your prayers and well wishes since sharing I have COVID-19; I’m grateful for the outpouring from our community. Unfortunately my symptoms worsened and last week I was hospitalized in order to receive additional care. I am extremely grateful for the expert care I received through both our county Public Health Department and JPS Health Network. I am also very thankful that I was fully vaccinated as my case could’ve been much worse otherwise. While I am now home on a steady recovery, I am not yet where I need to be in order to resume my regular schedule as your commissioner. In the meantime I am monitoring developments in the county and our team remains hard at work. As I continue to focus on my recovery, I look forward to being back soon and to the fullest service to our Precinct 2 community.

Yesterday, I tested positive for the virus that causes COVID-19. My symptoms were originally thought to be a bad cold, and although I originally tested negative, I isolated to err on the side of caution.
