Gave a talk last night at the Claude Community Meetup here in Auckland on what I built for my best friend Bruce who died of cancer seven weeks ago. I built an AI system to process all of his medical data from three different hospitals, and created a 3D digital twin that realtime produced audio visual explainers of what was happening in his body, we could then ask questions and receive decision support from a total system of recorded + multiple AI models as we interfaced with doctors and nurses to make critical decisions day by day during his final days and hours. Video of the talk incoming, I’ll share more soon.

we do things not because they are easy, but because fable oneshotted the first 80% so we thought it would take an hour max.

We ran Kimi K3 through 3 agent harnesses (Claude Code, Hermes, Kimi Code) on 28 identical tasks. All 3 harnesses completed the tasks at similar success rates, but the interesting story is token efficiency: the same task cost up to 30x more tokens depending on the harness. 🧵🧵

Agree, 100% we shouldn’t be tying ourselves in knots. Even bigger issue is the brilliant talent we are scaring away from other countries with our immigration policies for great talent.
This is concerning. For the first time, a Chinese model Kimi K3 has taken #1 on the Frontend Code Arena and is scoring at or near the frontier on other benchmarks. Meanwhile America is tying itself in knots: politicians and bureaucrats are banning new data centers, piling on state regulations, and pushing for new federal agencies to pre-approve frontier models. This is how you lose the AI race. The rest of the world won’t play by our rules if we bog ourselves down. Permissionless innovation is how America won the internet and became the technological envy of the world. We can do it again with AI -- while addressing risks in a targeted way -- or we’ll watch our lead evaporate.

The biggest bullshit move by DHS in its history. So everyone on a O1 or H1B visa would have to stop working legally in the US, go back to their country and wait for years of backlog? This includes top scientists in our universities, founders of billion dollar companies (at least 3 just in our portfolio would be affected by the way). And if we look at individual countries it becomes even more bs. Indians would have to wait decades. Russians don’t have anywhere to go (there is no US embassy in Russia, hello?). This is the worst imaginable way to disrupt important work for the country and pretend you’re fighting some loophole.
An alien who is in the U.S. temporarily and wants a Green Card must return to their home country to apply. This policy allows our immigration system to function as the law intended instead of incentivizing loopholes. The era of abusing our nation’s immigration system is over.

“How many of you want to try this?” Live demoing something new you’ve been working for 3 months is scary. You’ve been drinking all the koolaid but until you put it in the hands of a stranger, you can’t know. Yet, the @AITinkerers crowd came in strong. Im even more excited to ship what’s in store here! For those of you that saw the demo, it’ll be live soon :)

What an amazing demo (youtu.be/xc0TVPNqa00?list=PL…) by @CommerceJohn at The GenAI Collective SF Demo Night, showcasing @actual_ai_ performance review automation solution! As teams scale, managing performance becomes way too complex. What caught my attention was how AI can now help us analyze developer productivity patterns to identify both high performers and potential areas of concern, while maintaining fairness and objectivity. Fascinating to see AI transforming traditional performance management into a data-driven process. Thanks John for sharing this innovation with our community! The next Demo Night is happening on Wednesday, January 29, at @awscloud GenAI Loft, hosted by @GenAICollective and @ProductHunt — everyone is invited! Register now here: go.dataphoenix.info/SFDemoNi…. If you'd like to showcase your demo, submissions close the Thursday before the event at 11:59pm — apply here: go.dataphoenix.info/SFDemoNi….

Well, that's surprising... @drupal had 5x the estimated developer effort of @WordPress last year (see thread). I guess that what comes of community division...

Below is Steve Jobs announcing a new product, “WiFi-connected socks” in his eloquent voice. I’m sold. The Black Mirror episode “Be Right Back” describes a technology that revives people from their digital footprint. Where we are today: - LLMs prompted by past chat logs can do a great job. For example, @character_ai can simulate various persona for you to chat with. - Highly realistic, personalized speech synthesis has made big progress, and will reach perfection in 1-2 years at most. @elevenlabs - Face simulation with natural emotions is much harder. @UnrealEngine introduces a beta service called “MetaHuman” that may fill the gap. - Physical robot of your loved ones is completely out of reach for today’s tech. Even if it’s doable, there would be huge legal and moral red flags. Demo made using @forever_voices

As a leader, there may be no skill more important than emotional self-regulation. I struggled with this for a lot of my career (which of course as a woman, made me extra worried about being a trope). Thread >>
