"She was shaking so hard, and she wouldn't let go of my arm," Janet remembered. "I could feel her desperation through her grip." Janet sat back down and spent another hour with Bella, who gradually stopped trembling but kept hold of her arm. "That's when I realized Bella wasn't clingy - she was traumatized," Janet said. "Every goodbye had taught her that love doesn't last." Janet adopted Bella that day, determined to show her that some people stay. "Clinginess is just love that's afraid to be left behind," Janet reflected.

MAJOR WON’T BE PUT DOWN. A FEDERAL COURT JUST SAVED HIS LIFE.
A Travis County court ordered Major euthanized. On October 26, a federal court in Austin stopped it for good.
Under the ADA, the Court granted a permanent injunction, finding Shane Lilly is a qualified individual with a disability and losing Major would be irreparable harm.
The City of Austin is now permanently barred from euthanizing him.
Within 30 days he goes to a licensed rescue outside Austin and Travis County, then at least 30 days of decompression with veterinary behaviorist Dr. Kenneth Martin to rehabilitate and retrain him.
Strict conditions: secure enclosure, muzzle and leash, $100,000 liability coverage, court reports every 30 days for a year.
