Threatening to murder Muslim children. Telling Muslim families to leave Canada. This is absolutely sickening.
My heart is with the students, families and staff at MAC Islamic School. I'm grateful to the faith leaders standing shoulder to shoulder with Calgary's Muslim community today.
An attack on one faith community is an attack on all of us. Every child deserves to feel safe at school. Every family deserves to feel safe practising their faith.
There is no place for Islamophobia, threats or intimidation in our city. Calgary must stand united against hatred, and those responsible must be held accountable.

In the Calgary Herald this past weekend, a local leader in Calgary wrote an opinion-editorial – challenging the city and our province to vote no on the nine awful questions, in addition to voting remain.

This week, City Administration provided an overview of the outstanding considerations with the Govt of Alberta's Green Line alignment proposed in the AECOM report.
The City identified $1.3 billion in known costs and risks that were not included in the AECOM proposal.

Today, Council had to approve a wind down of the Green Line Program as a result of the Government of Alberta terminating the project on September 3.
There was no negotiation or discussion of a different solution. Just a swift end to 1,000 jobs and 70+ contracts. And we as the City of Calgary carry the liability on all of this.
Our hand was forced by the provincial government, and like many Calgarians, I am incredibly saddened.

We're at the point in the conversation where it's past due to define the Green Line. #greenlineyyc is a LRT that connects north #yyc to the south-east via downtown & supports the growth happening in developed communities. What @ABDanielleSmith wants to build is NOT the Green Line

So, here's the thing. While @ABDanielleSmith says Green Line needs more oversight, the fact is the #greenlineyyc project team was meeting their provincial & federal counterparts on a regular basis so if the premier didn't know what was going on, it's cuz she never bothered to ask

"The Provincial Government’s decision to unilaterally claw back funding for #greenlineyyc sets a concerning precedent for all future infrastructure projects across Alberta. This move sends a clear signal that no project, regardless of its scope or significance, is safe"

Ugh. Our son’s first transit ride home GP Vanier to Coventry was aborted after 6x full buses passed him over the course of an hour. (Had to leave work to pick him up) #GreenLineYYC is decades overdue. #GetOnWithNorthLeg @DevinDVote @yaseenUCP @RajanJSaw

#yyc is getting caught in the crossfire between what actual transit users need & what @Alberta_UCP insiders want. @ABDanielleSmith is repeating the past playbook to kill #greenlineyyc by pushing for delays & reviews to increase costs just as shovels are about to go in the ground

Calgary has the highest unemployment rate in Canada.
Every job fair, even for min wages, attracts thousands of people & Calgarians can't find a job.
Meanwhile here is a map of all the TFW & LMIA scams that aren't hiring locals.
Why are our politicians not speaking up?!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON BEARSPAW FEEDERMAIN:
The pipe diver results have identified 16 more sites that need repair in the short term.
This work will be done in a planned manner, beginning August 26 and wrapping up by about September 23 (estimated end date).
While we remain in Stage 1 outdoor water restrictions for now, we will need to be in Stage 4 restrictions for the duration of the repairs. This is to ensure the Glenmore water treatment plan can get water to all homes and businesses, while the Bearspaw feedermain is closed.

🛤️COUNCIL KEEPS GREEN LINE ON TRACK⭐️
City Council has approved moving forward with the #GreenLineYYC under a reduced scope initial phase to build the core foundation of the line from Eau Claire to Lynnwood/Millican within the existing Phase 1 budget.

In the moment, sometimes a win feels like a loss. A reduced scope is disappointing to many but as of today & after years of design, debates & delays, construction of #greenlineyyc is officially approved & underway. This is the start of building a 44 km line benefiting all of #yyc
