The Presiding Comrade ✊

I bet you, you do not know this man. He achieved it all as a student. The money, the power, the influence and, most impressively, THE GRADES. I got to know of @Comrade_Akanni when he was contesting for the position of Public Relations Officer of the Great Ife Students' Union in 2023. What got me interested in him was the fact that during the campaign, I heard that he was a First Class student and was comfortably on track to graduate with a First Class. He was only in 200 level. The following session, I saw him again at the forefront of the campaign that brought @Dr_Bush to the position of President of the Union. From my observation that year, he was one of the most influential and important members of that movement. He was only a 300-level student then. He was combining teaching students with student leadership and, most interestingly, topping his class academically in Chemical Engineering. Wow! What a man! He was always at Awo Cafe, reading day and night while still being involved in almost everything. I remember the night I went to meet him at Awo Cafe to seek his advice when I was contesting for the position of Assistant Secretary-General of the Great Ife Students' Union. What a man! Between his 400 and 500 levels, he took up the mantle of leadership and became the President of his department while still maintaining his academic excellence. What a mentor! In 500 level, he achieved a perfect CGPA of 5.0 and still became the Public Relations Officer of the Union's Electoral Commission, overseeing the election of this great institution. I wonder how he was able to pull all of that off. Comrade Akanni is the kind of leader and student anyone should aspire to be. He is a perfect mentor to me. He is not getting the accolades he deserves, and by now, he should be trending on all platforms. Please, let's give this man his flowers. He is someone every student leader should look up to.

Till now, I still don’t know who took this picture back in my 200‑level days—but it remains the best photo I have from my undergraduate years. 🥳🤍
