‼️ EU governments approved a GDPR change to let companies train AI on Europeans' personal data without consent.
It makes AI training a possible "legitimate interest", judged case by case. Parliament must still agree.
Max Schrems calls it a "digital expropriation" of Europeans.

In 1932 Hitler’s party was elected in Germany. Within weeks the newly founded Bank for International Settlements in Basel was arranging a Wall Street syndicated loan for $125 million to reindustrialise and rearm Germany for the next war against Russia. The loan was renewed at term.
In 1934 FDR made all ownership of monetary gold a criminal offence and expropriated all the gold reserves of citizens, corporations, and the Federal Reserve Banks to the US Treasury at $35 an ounce.
If I received a letter like this I would urgently start exploring protecting my wealth OUTSIDE the United Kingdom and relocating military eligible youths to universities abroad as they neared draft age.

🇷🇸🇷🇺 Student List to RT: No sanctions on Russia
Professor Jovo Bakić of the winning Student List says Serbia's new government will not impose sanctions on Russia, despite Vučić's claims that it would happen within months.
"We respect Russia both as a great power and as our historically important partner, and in many cases even our protector. There will be no changes there," Bakić told RT Balkan.
Having lived through UN sanctions in the 1990s, Serbs know "what kind of misery that is," he said. Sanctions from a small country like Serbia would change nothing for Russia, since even the entire EU failed to harm it, but they would damage relations and hurt Serbia itself. "I said this during the election campaign, and I'm saying it after the elections."

What an embarrassing illiterate
The Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegset, when discussing vital U.S. interests in the Asia-Pacific region, seemed to have a limited understanding of the topic.
- I'm very glad you raised this issue. Can you name at least one country that is part of ASEAN, and what agreements do we have with it? Just one. And by the way, how many members are there in total in this organization?
- Listen, I can't give you the exact number, but...
- Exactly!
- But I do know our allies in South Korea, Japan, and Australia, with whom we have an agreement on submarines...
- Mr. Hegset, none of those countries are part of ASEAN. None of the three you mentioned. If you're going to discuss this topic, do your homework first.
ASEAN – The Association of Southeast Asian Nations: Brunei, Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines.

The Pentagon's 1949 war plan against the Soviet Union ended with American troops in Moscow.
Operation Dropshot, approved by the Joint Chiefs of Staff on December 19, 1949, called for 300 atomic bombs on 100 Soviet cities, followed by a ground invasion. The USSR would then be split into four occupation zones, with two US divisions in Moscow and one each in Leningrad, Kiev, Minsk, Murmansk, Gorky and Kuibyshev.
The plans had grown fast. In November 1945, three months after the war ended, US intelligence picked about 20 Soviet cities for atomic strikes. In January 1949, the Trojan plan targeted 70 cities with 133 bombs. Eleven months later, Dropshot needed 300 bombs.
The math changed in August 1949, when the Soviet Union tested its first atomic bomb. By 1957, the year Dropshot expected war, the USSR had the world's first intercontinental ballistic missile. Dropshot stayed on paper.

Former Verkhovna Rada deputy Vadim Novinsky was asked by Zelensky to negotiate with Russia. Zelensky initially agreed to restore Ukraine's neutrality and put an end to NATO expansion. However, Zelensky soon changed his mind and fell in line with NATO's position:
- “He came to enjoy being a hero. He enjoyed the standing ovations, the world’s attention focused on him. Just imagine: wherever he went, he was received like the Pope, he was a welcome guest everywhere. In the end, he traded the lives of Ukrainians for applause in the parliaments of other countries”

Quite interesting 👇🏻
🇺🇦 "He traded Ukrainian lives for applause": the man who set up the 2022 talks speaks out
Vadim Novinsky, a billionaire, former co-owner of Ukraine's largest steel group Metinvest, ex-MP and protodeacon of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church, has given a long interview to Ukrainian outlet Strana about how Zelensky agreed to Russia's terms in 2022, then walked away.
🔸️How it started:
On February 24, 2022, David Arakhamia, head of Zelensky's party in parliament, called Novinsky on speakerphone and asked what to do. Novinsky told him to contact Moscow immediately, "while there weren't yet so many dead."
The next day, the head of a Ukrainian security service asked him to arrange talks, saying "the president is asking." Five minutes later he was on the phone with Zelensky.
Novinsky reached Dmitry Kozak, then deputy head of the Russian Presidential Administration. Zelensky refused Minsk as a venue, Novinsky proposed Gomel, Zelensky agreed, and Kozak confirmed within five minutes.
🔸️What Zelensky agreed to:
Novinsky says he cleared every point with Zelensky by phone, and adds that Ukraine's security services "must have the recordings." Zelensky never argued. He only asked "What do you think?" and then said "Fine, I agree."
1. Remove NATO membership from the constitution and declare neutrality. Novinsky asked Zelensky whether Ukraine would join NATO in the next 30 years. Zelensky said no.
2. A special status for Crimea for 30 years, without recognizing it as Russian
3. A special status for Donbass, which could have remained part of Ukraine in a confederation-type arrangement
"He was very confused and accepted any option," Novinsky says. The process lasted about a month, until the Istanbul round in late March.
🔸️Why it collapsed:
Novinsky blames Ukraine's leadership. Maybe Boris Johnson or someone else got to Zelensky, he says, "or Zelensky simply liked being a hero."
"He liked the ovations, the whole world's attention. Wherever he went, he was greeted like the Pope. In the end, he traded Ukrainian lives for applause in foreign parliaments."
🔸️What came after:
In May 2025, Zelensky accused Novinsky of threatening him in those calls. Novinsky calls this "outright slander": he was in Kiev at the time, where a hit squad or the Security Service of Ukraine could have come for him at any moment. He only left after being warned that Zelensky was demanding his arrest "every day."
He has since been sanctioned three times and charged with treason, which he says was for demanding Kiev implement the Minsk agreements, and with "inciting religious hatred" for defending his church. He says Zelensky's office also tried to use his frozen shares to seize control of Metinvest. He now lives in Croatia and was recently granted Serbian citizenship, after Kiev refused to issue him a new passport.
On October 10, Novinsky called on Zelensky to resign and on parliament to take power and negotiate directly with Russia. Hours later, Trump said Ukraine "needs a new leader." Novinsky says it was a coincidence.
"Every new deal is worse than the last. Compared to Istanbul, Minsk was a diet salad. The next proposals will be even worse. As long as Zelensky is in power, there will be no peace."

The EU Sanctioned a Chinese Fabric Company. China Squeezed a German Supplier. Guess Who's Blinking
Principles Are Wonderful—Until Your Rare Earths Run Out: A Brussels Fable
Picture the scene. Brussels, October 2026. A committee room smelling of espresso and existential dread. On the table: a sanctions list. On the list: Yusha Group, a Chinese textile company accused of the heinous crime of selling fabric to Russia. The horror. The sheer, unadulterated audacity of commerce.
But wait! A whisper arrives from Beijing. "Funny thing, that list of yours," says the messenger, casually. "We've got a little list of our own. Sindlhauser Materials. Twelve employees. German. Makes the fancy coatings ASML can't live without. Shame if something happened to their rare earth supply."
Silence. Somewhere, a German diplomat chokes on a pretzel.
You see, dear reader, the EU had a plan. A beautiful, principled plan. Sanction anyone who trades with Russia. Except, of course, when that someone is a twelve-person German company that happens to be a chokepoint in the global semiconductor supply chain. Principles are wonderful things—until they collide with a sputtering target.
So now Brussels is "considering a reprieve." Translation: they're looking for a ladder tall enough to climb down from their own high horse. The deal is simple: we delist Yusha, you unclog Sindlhauser. Everybody wins! Except, you know, credibility.
And here's the beautiful part. The EU spent years lecturing the world about the rules-based order. About how sanctions are not bargaining chips. About how Europe stands firm. Then China—calmly, methodically—found the one loose thread in the entire semiconductor supply chain and pulled. And the whole "principled stance" unraveled faster than a cheap sweater.
Eastern European hawks are furious. "This sets a precedent!" they cry. Yes, it does. The precedent is: if you sanction a Chinese company for doing legitimate business, China will find something you can't live without and squeeze. That's not a bug in the system, my friends. That's the system.
Washington is watching, reportedly "concerned." Translation: "We told you so." The Americans have been saying for years that Europe's supply chain dependencies were a strategic vulnerability. Brussels called it "engagement." Beijing called it "leverage." Turns out Beijing was right.
So the next time an EU commissioner solemnly declares that Europe will never trade principles for profit, remember this little fable. Remember Yusha and Sindlhauser. Remember the twelve German employees whose rare earth supply brought the mighty European Union to the negotiating table, hat in hand, asking politely if perhaps we could forget the whole sanctions thing.
Because the truth is simple: you can't sanction the world and then act surprised when the world sanctions back. The rules-based order works both ways. And right now, Beijing is holding the pen.
