WSU lost set 2, 20-25.
They swapped back into a 6-2 for this set, but even that was not too successful. SDSU has been by far the better team defensively and offensively.
The Cougs could not stop Layla Taylor, who logged 5 kills and an ace in the set.
Cougars lost set 1, 25-11.
That was the worst set of volleyball I have ever watched. WSU can’t get past the SDSU block, nor can the Cougs stop Ella Schabort.
This team looks lost and uninspired.
Ah yes, run the ball every play except the last in a two-minute drill when you have over 90 seconds, a timeout and a 14-7 lead.
WSU block is not doing anything today against UW.
Simona Mateska just slams the ball down, and there’s nothing WSU can do.
UW just has heavy hitters.
At least Whitney Dewicki has been great at the service line for WSU.
Cougs drop set 1, 25-17, to UW.
Conner Orr retweeted
Here is WSU QB Caden Pinnick’s entire postgame presser. Pretty short on words.
“We just lost. Next question.”
Can’t make this up. Worst 2nd-half start imaginable for the Cougs: 3-and-out on offense and then first-play TD for the Wildcats.
WE are waiving the white flag.
Don’t know if you can just cut players off your team in CFB, but the Cougs have to find a replacement for Jack Stevens.
This is getting ridiculous.
WSU VB loses in 5 sets. First reverse-sweep loss since Oct. 25, 2025, when they lost to San Diego in the WCC.
No excuses. This team has to play better when it gets a lead.
It’s losses like these that make me question how good this team actually is.

Cougs drop set 3, 25-18, to Lipscomb.
They couldn’t get out of their own way, committing 11 errors.
Lipscomb’s Ella Durham also put up 3 kills and had the set-winning service ace.
Cougs take set 2 over Lipsomb, 25-22.
Cougs were up 22-16 at one point. They tried to hand the set away, but Lipscomb said, “nah, we’re good” and hit service errors on back-to-back serves to lose.
Always have to hold your breath when the Cougs go up near the end of sets.
Cougs take set 1 over Lipscomb, 25-20.
The Cougs went on a 6-0 scoring run to finish it off.
2 kills and 0.5 blocks for freshman Whitney Dewicki in that run.
Ti’a is not playing, but Madyn Cervellera has filled in for her nicely - 3 kills and hitting .333.
WSU volleyball is currently ranked No. 2 in the nation in blocks per set at 3.62. The Cougs sit just behind James Madison’s 3.71.
Ti’a injury update:
Sources at WSU Athletics said it is a knee injury. They’re still waiting on imaging results.
Here is the full clip of OH Eliana Ti’a’s injury and her teammates’ reactions to it. Looks like she landed on one leg and then banged her knee on the hardwood.
WSU outside hitter Eliana Ti’a had to be carried off the court at the end of the match against the Ducks.
Don’t have an injury update as of now, but this could be a devastating blow for the Cougs to start the season.
Pinnick rushing TD to cut UW’s lead to just three.
He also completed a tight-window throw to Daniel Blood the play before that to set up the TD.
The fact the Cougs could win this game is nothing shy of a miracle, considering how bad their offense has been until just now.
