My article is now up on #FirstView @APSRjournal. My hope is that it will be of interest to anyone who works with or thinks about The Federalist, the American founding, or the Constitution. Here’s a brief 🧵 on its 3 key arguments: cambridge.org/core/journals/…

This will become obvious after the election, but I think it’s already fairly clear now: To be competitive in 2028, the GOP should impeach & remove Trump during the lame-duck session. Own the inevitable succession process, begin rebuilding, & maybe even govern.

When presidential power is exercised at the margins of govt, who is accountable? The Supreme Court’s DOGE case highlights the challenges posed by the “parapresidency”: temporary, quasi-private actors who operate at the borders of the presidency: papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.…

Save the university. Fire administrators.
How bad is administrative bloat in higher ed? At MIT, the “student body has grown by 8% and its faculty by 9% since the mid-1980s. By comparison, the tally of administrators jumped by 189%.”

Developed a new assignment for my constitutional law class this term to help students better understand the development of doctrine and relationship among cases. Shared here in the event others want to borrow/adapt.

The Doctrine Map builds on another new assignment, the Case Anatomy, which replaced a case brief exercise. Unlike a brief, the Case Anatomy pushes students a couple steps further, particularly with the "Counterargument" and "Hinge Fact" requirements.

I think we're <10 years away from euthanasia being floated as a serious policy proposal to address both Boomers' end-of-life concerns and young people's concerns about subsidizing Boomer entitlements.
i have a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach that eventually the boomer property tax revolt will foment a reverse-polarity version in young people ("well then why should i keep paying Social Security taxes?") and the entire concept of cooperative public goods disintegrates

With all due respect to those rightly attacking age-based property tax exemptions, we need a better answer than this. The grievance is based on something real: rising tax burdens on immobile residences whose assessed values have increased, while corporate taxpayers get carveouts.
Worst. Generation. Ever. They’ve received more government benefits than any other generation and won’t leave without decimating public goods for everyone else.

"What do I owe society?", asked the guy in the green.
“I’m old. I’ve paid my home off,” said Ray Warner, a 72-year-old Akron resident. “Why would I pay property tax?” Across the country, homeowners are asking the same question and revolting against property taxes at a scale not seen in a half century. politico.com/news/magazine/2…
