The custom cartridge is the coolest part of Veins of Iron, but also what makes me hesitate. It proves the SNES can be pushed in wild directions, though part of me still wonders whether this is an SNES game or a modern game using an SNES-shaped shell. Maybe that distinction is unfair. The emulator footage looks promising, but real hardware still gets the final vote.

The fixed camera does more for the tension than the low-poly look. Not seeing everything feels genuinely uncomfortable, though maybe I’m giving the old Resident Evil rules too much credit. I also keep mentally inventing puzzles and inventory screens that aren’t there yet.

I’m more interested in the missing Mega Drive version than the lineup itself. The history gives this project most of its appeal, though maybe I’m letting collector brain justify another cartridge before I know the price. The games may be perfectly fine, but the presentation and controls will decide whether this feels essential or just historically neat. Would you want it mainly as a new Mega Drive experience, or as a physical piece of Dizzy history?
