As the investigation has continued into the shooting attack in Paris, it appears the crime was motivated by anti-Muslim hate.
President Macron had this to say on the matter: "What happened today is, I am telling you, a turning point, because it is the first time we have had a terrorist act that was planned to kill our compatriots, our children, based on the color of their skin or their religion."
I guess the man who shot children at a Ozar Hatorah school in Toulouse in 2012 doesn't count. He must have chosen a Jewish school by accident.
And I suppose the man who shot and took hostages at a kosher grocery store in Paris in 2015 also didn't count.
Please do not mistake what I am saying here. I am not saying this isn't a horrible terrorist attack targeting people on the basis of religion. I am not saying that this terrorist attack is in any way less awful than the ones targeting Jews that came before it.
But I am asking why the President of France is erasing the history of Jews being targeted by terrorists in his country. The tragedy is already horrific; why make things up?

People took to the streets in Brazil today to show their opposition to Hamas terrorism and express solidarity with Israel.
The message is clear: Terrorism must never be normalized. The victims of October 7 must never be forgotten. 🇮🇱🇧🇷
They’re Israeli-Arabs. But well done for single-handedly pointing out to your readers that “Palestinian citizens of Israel” have equal voting rights and - unlike in the ‘West Bank’ or Gaza - the ability to vote at all.
Nor can they in Lebanon, which excludes the large majority of Palestinians from citizenship. Or Syria where citizenship is barred for Palestinians.

This is a perfect example of the way antisemites twist words. And then naive, good-hearted people are misled and repeat those versions, believing they mean something they don’t:
1) The exact Golda Meir quote is “When peace comes, we will perhaps in time be able to forgive the Arabs for killing our sons [meaning soldiers]. But it will be harder for us to forgive them for having forced us to kill their sons [meaning soldiers].” At the time, young women were not conscripted.
She was speaking broadly about the wars between Israelis and Arabs (conventional wars) and specifically about the war of attrition.
It is often paraphrased as “children,” sometimes understanding that the meaning is “soldiers,” who, in modern-day Israel are usually 18-21, and can collectively be referred to as “our children.” But given the contemporary version of the blood libel—a new version of the old lie that Jews intentionally kill children—the paraphrasing makes the quote seem nefarious.
2) The actual “children” quote is from 1957. “Peace will come when the Arabs will love their children more than they hate us.”
Today that can seem to refer to the abhorrent practices of using children as human shields and of parents wanting their children to be “martyrs,” and distributing sweets to celebrate their deaths.
That was not her meaning. She was referring to how Arab governments (in recognized states) prioritized hatred of Jews and Israel, military spending, and the conscription of their young men over domestic development and civilian well-being—a problem that has plagued the Arabs who became Palestinians, (particularly in Gaza), for decades.
