We haven't had a logistical mess in grains for a while. Processors have enjoyed receiving grain "early" the last few falls, especially the last two.
You don't have to think the carryout is wrong to see the trend affected behavior and caught some companies with their pants down. – at West Point, NE
Many worse days to load cattle this year. Pen conditions declining in a hurry. Better be a good operator this fall – at West Point, NE
Was told today (after consulting with the university) that certain corn hybrids died early because of the heat. We've talked a lot about night time temps, the crazy hot July, and other heat blasts since, but it seems the factor not many considered at the time was the lack of wind – at West Point, NE
In a life where "firsts" can become increasingly rare, it's especially rewarding for a first to turn out so well.
Huge thanks to the guys at Bottles and Barrels in Elkhorn for buying our entire first barrel of "top shelf" barrel proof bottles.
Where should we go next? – at West Point, NE
The red corn experiment is getting away from me as I can only reach about half the ears. Future whiskey – at West Point, NE
I wasn't informed part of my job description would be "stare at lasers," but here we are – at West Point, NE
This @Case_IH combine is a hit! More custom corn whiskey, bourbon, and laser engraved barrels going out to our farmers who have sent us their own grain!
@WhitetailsUltd up next!
It's been a hell of a month. Lots of "sorry about the cattles" texts lately. It's not stocks, and that's okay.
Hang on to your saddle horn kids, and cheers to better months 🥃🥩 – at West Point, NE

Irrigated corn in NE NE on a shared well, left two planted early, perfect stand, right four planted into rye later and needed to be watered in to aid germ, inconsistent stand.
Left: 18x40-43
Right: 14-20x40 – at West Point, NE
Dryland field, first is a big one from the end rows (18x42), the rest are more representative, 16-18x30-35. Variability with tip back not great. – at West Point, NE
More and more people turning into this guy. Short wheat or just don't be long buns?
Hosted a small birthday party and went through 1.2x as much meat (burgers, dogs, etc) as I was expecting and .5 as many buns/breads/sides/etc.
Is this the same trend shift being seen everywhere? Anti-sugar and anti-carb pretty prevalent among all adults. – at West Point, NE
I don't know how many farm shops we've visited and there's a custom bottle of Flyover on the shelf, "saving it for a special occasion?" "Nope, too special to drink."
Easily the coolest thing we do. – at Nebraska, USA

If you all haven't tried @FlyoverWhiskey before, check it out. Took some of the last corn of my uncle's last harvest and had them make whiskey from it. Probably best present I've ever given.
Now they can include your homemade honey?!?!
Replying to @PhilSwantek @JLinvilleFert
50 ml or 1.75 oz per bottle is good but can always add more. We've had a lot of guys send us their home raised honey with their corn.
