Following a Top Management meeting held on 12th October, 2026 and attended by the Gulu Resident City Commissioner (RCC), Gulu University convened a General Assembly for the Students' Fraternity on Tuesday, 13th October, 2026 at the Guild Grounds at 3:00pm. The assembly was prompted by the gruesome murder of Ngire John Bosco, a Year Two student of the Faculty of Education and Humanities from Agwee, which occurred on 10th October, 2026. The University Security Officer briefed Top Management on the incident. During the assembly, the Vice Chancellor, speaking on behalf of Top Management @GuluVarsity , expressed bitter disappointment and strong condemnation over the continuous killings of students and staff by Aguu’s in and around the University vicinity. He noted with concern that insecurity has become a serious threat to the University community. The Vice chancellor @GeorgeOpenjuru , together with the security team led by the RCC, addressed students on the prevailing security concerns and assured the fraternity that Management is taking urgent steps to strengthen security both inside and outside the University. “WHOEVER IS HUNTING US MUST BE HUNTED!”

"Chairman, a country without reserves is not sovereign. The potential of this Bill to destabilize Uganda’s balance of payments is our primary concern as a central bank. For example, last financial year the overall balance of payment surplus was USD 1.5 billion. That’s how we were able to increase our reserve coverage by USD 1.5 billion. Today as we speak our reserves are close to USD 6 billion. Why? Because these inflows have been coming in. The moment you tamper with these inflows here, we risk running down our reserves, and that is economic disaster for a country.” Governor Atingi-Ego on the Protection of Sovereignty Bill 2026 in an appearance before Parliament today.

Today marks the conclusion of a four-day monitoring exercise of beneficiaries under the Youth Livelihood Programme (YLP) in Gulu City. We visited several beneficiary groups including Gulu High Boda Boda Youth Group, Pondwongo Youth Poultry Group, Cubu A & B Youth Poultry Group, Vanguard Bar Soap Youth Group, and Layik East Youth Horticulture Group, among many others. We conducted comprehensive assessments and made recommendations aimed at ensuring recovery of funds disbursed under the Youth Livelihood Fund. We therefore appeal to His Excellency the President and the @Mglsd_UG to collaborate closely with Youth Council leaders across the country to provide re-financing support. This support should be extended not only to the successful groups, but also to groups that encountered unforeseen challenges leading to setbacks, yet continue to demonstrate commitment and have gained valuable experience from the lessons learned. I sincerely thank His Excellency @KagutaMuseveni President for initiating this programme, which has significantly transformed the lives of young people in Uganda. @GifterAber @PaLabeja @MercyLakiskis @Tumukunde_ @NYCofUganda @NRMOnline @NrmYouthleague @TodwongR @BenOngomTweets

Today, at the @GuluCityCouncil Bardege offices, we convened a Youth Dialogue under the theme: "Youth Opportunities, Livelihood and Entrepreneurship," bringing together over 40 youth representatives from different wards across Gulu City. During the dialogue, we sensitized the youth about @KagutaMuseveni the President's initiatives and existing government programs including the Presidential Skilling Hub in Unyama, Oding in Gulu District, the 30% Parish Development Model (PDM) allocation for youth per ward, the Uganda Women Entrepreneurship Program (UWEP), the Special Grant for Persons with Disabilities, the Youth Livelihood Fund (YLF), among others. The participants were guided on the eligibility criteria and procedures for registration and accessing these programs. We kindly ask the government to increase slots for the Presidential skilling hub intake to accommodate more youths within Acholi sub region. We extend our sincere appreciation to @TUGIOFFICIAL for their support and to Gulu City Council for the partnership in organizing this dialogue, which served as a replication of the Gulu City Youth Day celebrations. For God and my Country! @StateHouseUg @mkainerugaba @newvisionwire @Fireliglntfi @ntvuganda

Tooro will surprise Ugandans very soon. Let’s stick to the President’s guidance and avoid confusion from social media! Otherwise we have seen over 3 potential kings in a very short time!
Replying to @KagutaMuseveni
Fortunately, in a telephone call, Her Royal Highness Kemigisa, told me that H.H. Oyo left a young boy heir that will be introduced to the public at the right time.   H.H. Oyo worked well with the Central Government, thereby avoiding the mistake of trying to use the Cultural Institutions that were restored by the NRM to promote sectarianism. It would be good if all the Cultural leaders understood the importance of this.   I direct that H.H. Oyo be given an official burial and, for three days, all the flags fly at half-mast. The three days are: the day of the burial, the day before and the day after. May his soul rest in eternal peace. Signed:   Yoweri K. Museveni President of the Republic of Uganda

There is something unique about each #generation. I saw it a few days back when I met up with my colleagues from way back in @GuluVarsity with whom we shared leadership roles . In one picture: The 22nd Guild President @FrancisOk0t1 , the 22nd Guild speaker ,the 23rd Guild President @Counselaaron , the 23rd Women Representative @MissPeaceSalama now serving as Vice Chairperson @KiryandongoDLG ,and Hon Rackara the Minister for National and Foreign Affairs. What a beautiful moment! Ours is to engage, share ideas and push till the end. We need to contribute not because we can, but because it is our #responsibility as young people to do so.

I am extremely saddened and shocked to hear of the passing of Omukama Oyo Rukidi IV. Our country has lost a great royal at a very young age. He still had a lot to contribute to our beloved country. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
