Astounding Sunday Times investigation reveals new scandal in SNP’s Socialist Scotland:
800 NHS, central government, council and quango workers whose jobs no longer exist but remain on the public payroll because of the SNP’s ‘no public-sector redundancy’ policy.
Estimated cost of paying people to do nothing: £27m a year.
One NHS Highland worker has been receiving a full salary and benefits for 17 years despite not having a specific job.
The health board refused to say what the worker had been doing for almost two decades and how much they had been paid.
Likely cost to the taxpayer is expected to be far higher with several public bodies refusing to disclose salaries for hundreds of the workers awaiting redeployment.

Dawn Butler makes a powerful point about inherited debts being owed by the modern generation. I'd like to thank her for this.
It today's terms freeing the slaves cost around £17Billion (using GDP values) on top of which Royal Navy deployments for the 60 years or so they were active in hunting down the slaves ships and disrupting the slave trade cost the UK another £30Billion to £50Billion at today's value (again using GDP values).
Using the figures above we get a sum of between £47Billion and £67Billion that Black Britains and Black people from the former Empire owe the UK Treasury. And this is before any calculation is considered for the compensation to the families of the 17,000 sailors who died on these operations.
Having explained so cogently why this sum should be paid I look forward to @DawnButlerBrent's suggestions as to a payment plan.

SCHOOLCHILDREN ‘BRAINWASHED BY LEFT-WING BBC’
BBC Bitesize faces accusations of political bias over educational material promoting controversial views on immigration, Net Zero and social issues.
The BBC is facing demands for an investigation following allegations that its educational website, BBC Bitesize, exposes millions of schoolchildren to politically biased material.
An investigation by The Mail on Sunday examined resources aimed at pupils aged 11–14 and raised concerns about how contentious political and social issues are presented.
Key findings reported include:
Immigration and open borders: An educational game reportedly awards higher scores for policies favouring increased immigration, open borders and amnesty for undocumented migrants, while alternative choices receive less favourable outcomes.
Economic impact of immigration: Teaching materials allegedly emphasise immigration's economic benefits without adequately reflecting differences in migrants' fiscal contributions. The investigation also questions material associating concerns about immigration and employment with prejudice.
Net Zero policies: Videos present Net Zero as an important objective and encourage pupils to consider lifestyle changes, including reduced flying and meat consumption, prompting concerns over political impartiality.
Political activism: Educational resources positively reference Greta Thunberg, Black Lives Matter and other campaigning organisations, with critics questioning whether sufficiently balanced perspectives are provided.
Calls for an investigation: Shadow Education Secretary Laura Trott and former BBC controller Danny Cohen called for scrutiny of the material, arguing that publicly funded educational resources must remain politically impartial.
The BBC rejected the allegations, maintaining that its resources are developed with educational specialists, support the UK curriculum and are regularly assessed against its editorial standards. It also disputed claims that the immigration game rewards particular political positions.
The controversy raises wider questions about political neutrality in educational content provided by the publicly funded broadcaster.

Stephen Kinnock’s claim that there were no boat people because we were in the European Union is a straightforward lie. Illegal immigrants flooded in by lorry, train and cars. They disappeared into towns/cities and couldn’t be properly counted. When advances in technology made these methods of transport much harder to use the illegal migrants took to boats, courtesy of the people smugglers. Since the boats are usually interdicted on arrival the counting is easier. Nothing to do with being in or out of the EU.

SOMETIMES A UPS DRIVER DELIVERS MORE THAN JUST PACKAGES!
Most of us see UPS drivers rushing from one delivery to the next, trying to finish their routes on time.
But this driver reportedly took time out of his day to help save a cow in trouble.
Watching him gently comfort the animal afterward is what really makes this video special.
His job is to deliver packages, but that doesn’t mean he can’t stop and make a difference.
Sometimes the most important delivery of the day isn’t a package. It’s an act of kindness.

There’s a lot of self-serving spin emanating from the UK government about how virtuous it is re fiscal consolidation.
Here are the facts.
Labour inherited an OBR budget deficit forecast of £87bn (3.1% GDP) for FY2024/25. After R Reeves’ 1st disastrous budget the actual deficit was £153bn (5.2%). Massive jump.
Labour inherited OBR budget deficit of £77bn (2.7%) for FY2025/26. After RR’s disastrous 2nd budget that turned out to be £133bn (4.3%).
So in its first two years it added over £120bn to borrowing/deficit (despite huge increase in taxes).
The OBR forecast it inherited for this FY2026/27 was £69bn (2.3%). It is now forecast to be £116bn (3.3%). That looks like an underestimate. More likely to be closer to £130bn again.
Inherited budget forecast for 2027/28: £51bn (1.6%). Latest forecast: £97bn (2.9%).
Inherited budget forecast for 2028/29: £39bn (1.2%). Latest forecast: £86bn (2.5%).
Far from fiscal consolidation Labour is forecast to borrow an incredible £260bn more over the 5 years from 2024/25 than the forecasts it inherited. Despite the tax rises.
Which will continue. Alone among G7 countries the IMF projects the UK tax burden to rise by 3.7% of GDP 2025-31. The only other country with a rising tax burden is France (0.8%). Italy is static. Rest of G7 have falling tax burden.
And let’s not forget Labour’s so-called ‘fiscal consolidation’ is all backloaded to end-decade. Unlikely to happen. So taxes will have to rise by even more.
