Overall consensus on St. John’s season: Yes it was a successful season. We took it one level further than last year in the end, while also winning the Big East chip again. Biggest issues 1. No true PG, we didn’t bring one in. Pitinos plans for Jackson taking over that role didn’t work, and he buried Jackson. Meanwhile he is a true off ball guard that creates offense for himself, not for others, and was always that. 2. Sellers was supposed to be our knock down shooter, that never came to fruition. He was average to below average all year, but played essentially mistake free ball, which is why he kept getting 28+mpg 3. Sanon was supposed to be knockdown from 3, he wasn’t. He got hot a little bit in BE tourney. I’m high on him for next year. Nothing in the madness. 4. Big bells darling. He was supposed to be a backup. And he’s a helluva back up, he clutched up multiple times. But when you’re chasing a march ring, he can’t be your starting PG. 5. THE BIG 3. Zuby, Mitchell. Bryce. They gave everything they could. Bryce had a great March. Dillon most versatile player on the floor for BOTH teams playing most of the year. Zuby did was Zuby does. Best player in the conference, one of the best in the country. 6. We lacked “that guy” which I thought Ian would be, but Pitino didn’t agree with that, short leash all year, argue with a wall, he should have played way more especially over sellers. 7. Prey always shows good minutes, as much as a goof he is. He is good and has potential to be even more, should have played whole 2nd half against Duke. Onto next year. #SJUBB #Johnnies
