Memories flooding back reading this playing Wigan Alliance team at Central Park for Featherstone Rovers Alliance Championship in 1997. Have just emailed both clubs heritage emails to dig up any information for me to show the kids. What an inspiration it was and what a ground.

130 years of discrimination is over as Billy Boston becomes the first rugby league player to be knighted.
A Black Welshman who became a legend in Wigan, Billy is a pioneer as well as one of the greatest players of all time.
Huge congratulations to him - Arise Sir Billy!
Very rewarding coaching this great group of women, especially when we came from nowhere to a National Tag Rugby Grand final 💥
What a group of women to Coach… @TryTagRugbyUK @TryTagCandW Women’s Over 34’s Paladin’s played through 9 other regions to be the first team to ever make a National Grand Final at the weekend. We were defeated by only 2 try’s v last years Champions but I could not be any prouder.
Very proud of all the work being put in by our junior coaching team managing such huge numbers. This is just one age group of u12s nearly 40 of them!
Fantastic numbers tonight for our junior age groups especially our under 12’s getting put through their paces in defence! Now that’s a defensive line #bearscommunity #rugbyleague

Despite the result, there were still some big shifts put in on Saturday not least by @oz_kirwan_8
The Durham University Prop never took a backwards step! Not bad for a @UniversityRL player 👀
