I am so thankful for the support of my husband @GrantWahl's soccer family & of so many friends who've reached out tonight. I'm in complete shock.

There will be a mountain of attention on this -- far too early to know how he died, but Grant Wahl (a wonderful soccer writer) had just published a piece about migrant deaths in Qatar and drew attention for the reaction by security guards when he tried to wear a pride shirt.
NPR can confirm the death of longtime soccer sportswriter Grant Wahl (@GrantWahl). He died today in Doha, Qatar while covering the Argentina-Netherlands World Cup quarterfinal. Story to come.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Grant Wahl wrote that he had visited a hospital while in Qatar earlier in the week for upper chest pain after battling a cold for 10 days. espn.com/espn/story/_/i… grantwahl.substack.com/p/world-cup-da…

I love this so much, I paid $8 to retweet. Kidding. Excited to be at @FamilyBeerDist conference!
Patio beers in Palm Springs w/ @CraftBizDaily. Gearing up for the @FamilyBeerDist conference. These CA distribs have a lot to discuss (& solve). Cheers.

I don’t know who hasn’t seen this yet but you need to.
In Georgia, it’s now illegal to give people water within 150 feet of polling places on Election Day. But don’t worry! We have a solution. Get yours here: liquiddeath.com/vote #liquiddeath

In it’s quest to become top beyond beer player, Boston Beer is the latest to launch a tequila RTD (their first) in Austin, Fort Collins and more. It’s called Loma Vista, with branding based on a real family ranch in West Texas (Lone River vibes) craftbusinessdaily.com/bosto…

At @SierraNevada East Coast meeting in NC. Biggest takeaway: Ken Grossman has placed some big bets on beer in the last ~42 years. His latest is on ALL beyond beer. Look for at their new Can Do Chico plant (~250-500k bbls) soon. M&A,JVs, partners all possible. The future is here.

The cross-cat deals roll on..@MolsonCoors is taking a minority stake in luxe tequila Co. @CasaKomos, having just transferred Superbird RTD distribution back to CK (which the MC network took on last year). PLUS, Gallo made a “strategic investment” in CK’s Tequila Komos. Got it?

Hard Mountain Dew. It’s not just for package anymore.
Molson Coors replaces 10-year-old fuel and freight surcharge with new flat rate going forward (based on this year’s record ~18-plus cents a case), included in distribs billing price. It’s a move to simplify, and distribs don’t think overall f&f costs will go backward. More in BBD

Man, beer wholesalers just can't seem to hold on to energy brands. Celsius announcing a deal with PepsiCo (worth $550 mill/8.5% stake), transitioning to that network. beernet.com/celsius-strikes-…
