Just a quick update that I’m pretty much exclusively on Threads these days… please leave this place behind and come find me (@CreativeNewman) over there.
Still unsure about Mastodon, but set up a profile because it's good to have backup plans: mas.to/@CreativeNewman
Now checking out pruvisto.org/debirdify/ to import the accounts I'm following on Twitter tha have already made the switch.
Editorial framing at work:

ALT Screenshot of two back-to-back push notifications. From the New York Times: “U.S. consumer prices rose 7.7 percent in the year through October, slower than expected and a sign that inflation is beginning to moderate. From the Washington Post: “Prices were 7.7% higher in October compared with the year before, as inflation defies Federal Reserve's interest rate hikes”

We’re now officially the unofficial Twitter account for a defunct Broadway musical.
Why is this allowed?
Been thinking a lot about what it might mean if Twitter were to go away.
For one, losing this giant repo of mostly-public content isn’t great for the health of the open web… especially if it that content goes to closed platforms. 1/
Also, if Twitter were to go away, companies might actually have to make their front line customer service less terrible instead of using social media escalations as their escape hatch to excuse otherwise bad service.
(Not holding my breath on that one) 3/

The fact “verified user Keanu Reeves” is still active many hours after going viral is the biggest warning sign yet that this is all going to go to hell rather quickly (which is exactly @abnerpastoll’s point).

This deck from today's @wmata board meeting is refreshingly direct about the tradeoffs involved in changing fares and service levels: wmata.com/about/board/meetin…
For example, recognition of the fact that most rail costs are fixed, regardless of the actual level of service provided!
