The goal is to create a sense of inevitable defeat in the majority. Vote early. On election day, help others who did not, or could not, vote early get to the polls. Bear witness to the crimes.

I hate this. The fact is — El-Sayed is underperforming in a D +8 environment. If he was a stronger candidate, we would have had more money for FL or MS, but instead we’re investing in MI because he can’t put Rogers to bed like Cooper has in NC.
Rep. Ayanna Pressley in MI just praised AOC for the $1 million — and ripped DSCC.
“The DSCC should take note because it is shameful that we are not seeing an equitable investment in progressive and diverse candidates like Abdul El-Sayed, like Angie Nixon, like Scott Colom.”
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Ayanna Pressley is incorrect. Not only has the DSCC supported the El-Sayed campaign with $16 million so far, the Senate Majority PAC of Sen. Schumer has spent an additional $10 million in support of El-Sayed

An interesting question is whether if Haley Stevens or Mallory McMorrow had won this nomination, would they need last-minute cash infusions or would this money be available for FL-Sen or TX-Gov instead?
NEWS: Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez just transferred $1 million to help elect Abdul El-Sayed for Senate in Michigan.

We now fully understand.
This election is not Republicans vs Democrats.
It's Russians vs Americans.
Pick a side.

Ukraine’s freedom is not President Trump’s to bargain away.
He is wrong to ease sanctions on Russian diesel, wrong to blame President Zelensky for prolonging Putin’s war, and wrong to undermine a nation fighting for its right to exist. Russia is the aggressor. Always has been. Reward Russia, and we should expect to see more aggression, including from other countries. We can also kiss goodbye to any just and lasting peace.
This is why Conservatives have stood with Ukraine against Putin. Ukraine’s future belongs to Ukrainians. They alone have the right to choose their president, and we stand with President Zelensky because he fights not for himself, but for the survival of his country and his people.

Le Pen now polls at 35/36% while her closest rivals are at ~17%. The *one* thing Western elites do effectively at this point is to so thoroughly stigmatize moderate solutions to social problems that they end up empowering radicals.

It’s too bad that popular governor Josh Shapiro is stuck in Pennsylvania rather than a critical swing area like New York City or we might get some media coverage of what Democrats can learn from his successes over the years.

Gouldner quipped (paraphrasing) that sociologists are rarely eager to apply sociology to sociology. This is a good piece that points out that the social sciences privilege structural explanations *except* when it comes to explaining the social sciences’ own political monoculture.
I love sociology's core insight: our lives are shaped by forces larger than ourselves. My new essay in @chronicle asks what happens when sociologists turn that insight on their own field. Nobody is only the product of their choices, and nobody is only the product of their circumstances. If we gave that same complexity to the people we disagree with, we'd do better science and probably be better neighbors.

If for some odd reason you find yourself thinking about education policy today, I think it’s worth considering the failure in Seattle, which went all-in to reduce racial inequities at the expense of all else, only to worsen them and fail black and white students alike: educationprogress.org/p/the-…

My suggestion is to enjoy music that you actually like and not judge musicians by their stances on Israel and Palestine.

Here's how stupid this Heritage American bullshit is.
Earlier this week, I was stuck at a hotel in small town Ohio. I tried for 2 hours to get an Uber to the local airfield. Finally a guy in a pickup truck sees me sitting on the curb and gives me a ride.
He is a wind turbine mechanic from Texas. I thank him and offer him gas money. He says no, he just likes paying it forward; he figures that way someone will help his wife or daughter when they need it. His mother calls from Texas and they converse in Spanish. He is Hispanic.
A few days later in a small town in Kansas, I am walking from the airfield to a hotel. A guy in a truck stops and picks me up.
He is in uniform. Army National Guard, with an 18th Airborne Corps combat patch from Iraq in 2018. His truck is full of duck hunting gear. He is a black guy from Chicago.
I would stand beside either one of those guys in a minute, over any of these morons claiming they inherit some kind of status from their ancestors.
Character ain't hereditary, and it sure ain't racial.

Hong Kong is off the front pages. The city is now an "ordinary" Chinese city -- unfree, totalitarian. But remember its political prisoners, including Jimmy Lai and Joshua Wong. I have written a piece on the latter. He turns 30 next month. A great man. thenextmove.org/p/remember-h…

This is an absolute must-read about how a myopic fixation on narrowing racial inequities to the exclusion of all other goals in education in Seattle Public Schools hurt all students, worsened inequities, and hastened a flight for private schools.

Mediaite: CNN chief data analyst Harry Enten warned Democrats their Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed is “historically unpopular” and could be throwing a “lifeline” to Republicans.
Abdul El-Sayed's favorables are negative compared to other Democratic US Senate nominees in battleground states.
