Don’t be fooled by Opposition Leader Kellie Sloane’s weak complaints about the government's gun buyback. While the Liberals pretend to oppose "blunt" buybacks, their track record proves they are all talk and no action when it comes to defending your freedoms. They promise temporary freezes and review commissions, yet time and again they sell out law-abiding firearm owners when the political pressure rises. In stark contrast, true champions of shooting rights like former Senator David Leyonhjelm and MLC John Ruddick have always stood unwavering against government overreach. They don't compromise on personal liberty or property rights. The Libertarians know that vetted, licensed shooters are not the cause of crime, and targeting them does zero to keep our streets safe. It is completely insulting that mobile speed cameras are now being deployed along the Darling Causeway detour route following the long-term closure of Victoria Pass. Truckies and everyday motorists are already forced to deal with massive travel delays, longer routes, and frustrating bottlenecks just to keep our regional supply chains and communities moving smoothly. Instead of focusing every available resource on fixing crumbling roads faster or supporting drivers navigating these heavy disruptions, authorities are dumping fine-issuing surveillance tools onto an already stressed detour. This decision isn’t about genuine road safety, it is a blatant cash grab that unfairly penalises everyday commuters and hard-working freight operators who are simply caught in a bottleneck created by official infrastructure failures. When governments treat detour routes born out of maintenance delays as prime locations for gathering fines, it exposes their true priorities. We need accountability, transparency, and policies that put road maintenance and driver support ahead of opportunistic fine collection on our highways.
