Two years ago I was watching our API bills grow faster than the value we got back, so we started measuring how much of what we send into these models the task actually needs.
The answer changed our roadmap.
In a few weeks you'll be able to generate an API key, point your coding assistant through our router, and pay for fewer input tokens on the same work. No code changes.
Savings land in double digits on real tasks and vary by case, because language models aren't deterministic. We'll publish what we actually see, including the boring results, and improve it with every new compression algorithm our subnet competition produces.
Four years of building, and it comes down to one API key. Feels good!
SOMA Roadmap - where we actually are.
[Shipped ✅] Plain-text compression powers SOMARIZER. Set the level - the tighter the ratio, the bigger the token savings.
[Shipped ✅] CoT compression for OpenClaw. The compressor processes the full session state, including user messages, reasoning, file reads, edits, command executions, and results. It’s an open-source plugin for the context engine - just install it and start using it. Reduce token usage by up to 50% on real-world agent loops while preserving reasoning quality.
[In progress 🔄] The same across other agents. The second competition cycle on Copilot is complete, scored on token savings and on whether the agent still finishes the task against an uncompressed baseline. Next, our own dataset generation pipeline, so algorithms train on fresh full agent tasks instead of one fixed public benchmark.
[In progress 🔄] One click compression for Copilot, Codex and Claude Code.
[Incoming ⏳] Then competitions beyond compression, for anything that can measurably improve agents.
