Cross-contamination from praying on floors in food establishments is a valid food safety concern that centers on indirect bacterial transfer from footwear to hands and food-contact surfaces. Commercial kitchen and dining area floors naturally accumulate high levels of dirt, food debris, grease, and pathogenic microorganisms.
When individuals perform religious prayers (such as Islamic Salah) directly on these floors, or on mats placed over them, specific vectors for cross-contamination can emerge if strict hygiene protocols are not maintained.
Praying on that floor then going straight back to the food line or anywhere near food is a massive 'no no'; also! washing feet in a hand sink in a clean area, both break the same controls and we've all seen that being done lately. Those rules exist so contamination does not reach the product and the consumer, end up killing some poor person(s).
The factory is responsible for enforcing them properly and training everyone the same way. Hygiene standards do not change depending on who is involved - EVER!
