The UK's FCA is proposing enhanced checks on crypto transfers involving personal wallets. There's an important distinction here. This is nonbinding guidance, not a new rule banning self-custody or requiring every wallet transfer to be approved. The FCA is suggesting that additional due diligence can be good practice when firms receive crypto from unhosted wallets. It also wants firms to explain their risk-scoring systems rather than blindly trusting third-party tools. We wouldn't panic over this, but we'd pay attention to the final guidance. Even when rules aren't binding, exchanges can change how they handle deposits and withdrawals.

Oil is becoming an increasingly important macro factor for Bitcoin. WTI crude has climbed from around $88 to above $103, with resistance now sitting at $103–106. A sustained breakout could reignite inflation concerns, complicate the outlook for interest rate cuts and put further pressure on risk assets. For Bitcoin, the risk isn't simply rising oil prices. It's the potential knock-on effect on bond yields, monetary policy and market liquidity. A rejection at resistance could ease some of that pressure, but a move higher would add another variable for crypto traders to consider. We're keeping a close eye on crude as markets navigate a crucial week for macro data and central bank policy.

🚨 BIG WEEK AHEAD FOR CRYPTO Markets face a packed macro calendar this week, with the Fed's rate decision and several key US economic releases on the agenda. • Wednesday, 2:00 PM ET: FOMC rate decision and statement • Wednesday, 2:30 PM ET: Fed Chair press conference • Thursday, 8:30 AM ET: US GDP, PCE inflation and weekly jobless claims • Friday, 8:30 AM ET: Employment Cost Index The Fed decision will be important, but Thursday's data could be just as significant for markets. Stronger growth and persistent inflation could keep rate-cut expectations under pressure. Weaker growth alongside cooling inflation could give risk assets some breathing room. For Bitcoin, it's not just about whether rates change this week. It's about what these releases tell us about the direction of monetary policy from here. Expect volatility as markets digest the data.

RedotPay has acquired Japan-licensed crypto exchange BTCBOX as it looks to expand its presence in the Japanese market. There's an important detail here. RedotPay acknowledged that its existing services for Japanese residents didn't meet local licensing requirements. It's now moving toward offering compliant services through BTCBOX. Getting regulatory approval is becoming a serious competitive advantage in crypto. Sometimes acquiring a licensed business is a more practical route than trying to build everything from scratch.

The reaction matters just as much as the decision itself. If markets have started absorbing Fed uncertainty better since June, this week could be another test of that shift. But with inflation risks still in play, a dovish reaction isn't guaranteed. The guidance and Warsh's tone could matter more than the decision alone.

More than 100 economists have now signed a letter warning that Israel's proposal to use crypto to bypass potential sanctions could damage its economy. The Bank of Israel has already rejected the idea. There's a distinction people need to understand here. Crypto can provide alternative ways to transfer value, but that doesn't make a country immune to sanctions or protect its businesses from losing access to international markets. The technology is neutral. The political and financial consequences of using it aren't.

Bitcoin is approaching a key liquidity zone. The $81K–$82K region holds a significant cluster of potential short liquidations, which could accelerate a move higher if BTC pushes into it. But liquidity is building below $80K too, with $78K–$79K the next area to watch if support breaks. The next move could catch traders on either side. Can BTC reclaim $81K, or will sellers drag price lower first?

AI's biggest risk may not be a lack of demand, but the cost of financing its growth. Building out AI infrastructure requires enormous upfront capital, and companies are increasingly relying on debt and future revenue to justify that spending. If borrowing costs rise or expected returns take longer to materialise, the companies with weak cash flow could face serious pressure. The AI opportunity can be real while the financing behind it becomes increasingly fragile. The winners won't just be the companies building the biggest infrastructure. They'll be the ones that can turn that investment into sustainable cash flow.

Goldman Sachs says the Japanese yen is emerging as a stronger hedge against an AI-driven market shock. Changes in Japan’s policy are making the yen less vulnerable to rising global bond yields, potentially making it more attractive as a safe-haven asset. If AI fears trigger a broader sell-off in risk assets, currency markets could become increasingly important to watch.

Extreme fear can create opportunity, but sentiment alone doesn't signal a bottom. The real edge is separating short-term panic from the bigger picture. If conviction in Bitcoin hasn't changed, price volatility shouldn't automatically change your thesis.

🇺🇸 Senator Cynthia Lummis says Democrats opposed the CLARITY Act despite changes made to address their concerns over crypto fundraising limits. She says the bill’s annual cap was reduced from $75M to $50M, with a new $200M lifetime limit added at Democrats’ request. The bill failed a key Senate procedural vote on September 15, leaving US crypto regulation in limbo.
