This is tough to take, but it makes sense. I have some empathy for @dfinzer, must be a difficult spot to be him right now. Opensea raised $300m at (lol) $13B valuation in early 2022. Since then, daily NFT trading volume tanked ~99%. So you spin up other shit: - Try to be uniswap - Farm users in "Waves" with the promise of $SEA and make them do all sorts of transactions to pump those rookie numbers - Now it seems that wasn't enough so why not launch perps. We all need more perp platforms. Just not enough of them. Can't even think of one right now. @FEhrsam prolly doesn't care too much, a16z isn't likely sweating this one, but it's possible some other investors who aped in at that massive valuation a few years ago are. I really do wonder why they don't drop the token. Would immediately win back the community, bring a ton of traffic. Maybe legal, maybe other reasons, who knows from the outside. As of now, there isn't a feature or product that can be shipped without the comments being flooded with "wen $SEA" Really no way forward without dropping the token. All of your power users blasted on the waves. All of the OGs were promised an allocation, but got radio silence. Can't mega-rug all the users then expect volume to walk back in and start blasting perps when there are dozens of better places to do that. 60 days rake-free back there didn't move the needle. Anyone internally thinking it did is lying to themselves. The only way forward from a brand perspective is to drop the token. Anything less and it's a forever stain on the name.
