Received this ledger book as #AptosWaliDiwali gift from my father Sa'ab 🫡
Will be drafting my @Aptos and @CrysPayyy roadmap init 🫶🏻🥹
Happy Diwali fam 🎉🥳🫂

🧵 "Privacy in blockchain is a myth."
Most blockchains are transparent by design, recording every transaction publicly. 📜🔍
Then how tf my privacy is secured???
Let's explore the ZKP way!

Presenting Zero Knowledge Proof
Zero-Knowledge Proof (ZKP) is a cryptographic method that allows one party to prove to another that a statement is true without revealing any information beyond the validity of the statement. 🔒

⚖️ Types of ZKPs:
1. INTERACTIVE ZKPs
Require multiple rounds of interaction between prover and verifier.
2. NON-INTERACTIVE ZKPs (SNARKs & STARKs)
Use a single message and are often based on cryptographic assumptions like hash functions.

1️⃣ ZK-SNARKs (Zero-Knowledge Succinct Non-Interactive Arguments of Knowledge)
They allow one party to prove a statement is true without revealing the details. It’s fast, efficient, but needs a trusted setup. 🧩💡

2️⃣ ZK-STARKs (Zero-Knowledge Scalable Transparent Arguments of Knowledge)
Similar to zk-SNARKs, but more scalable and secure. They don’t need a trusted setup and are designed for higher complexity at scale. ⚡️🔒

Key difference?
zk-SNARKs are quicker (require key) but rely on a trusted setup, while zk-STARKs (keyless) are more secure and scalable, but require more computational power.

Speed vs. Scalability
zk-SNARKs are optimized for speed and smaller-scale applications like private transactions.
They require less computational power to verify.
zk-STARKs are designed for scalability, making them ideal for larger, more complex applications like ETH scaling

🚀 @CrysPayyy is using zkp based DNuV to secure your phone numbers Identity—never shared with third parties for OTPs!
With zk-SNARKs, your transactions remain secure and untraceable, protecting both your funds and identity. 🔒📱💳
That's it, Sayonara 👋

@CrysPayyy uses OnChain Randomness of @Aptos ✋🏻💪🏻
...to generate an OTP that is Decentralised (to protect the user's privacy)
generating random no.s on the blockchain has been tough as is. altho we do have good solns now with chainlink & drand - there's a bigger problem at hand 🙋♀️
randomness generated thru these external beacons is not fast or too expensive, making it much harder to build dapps with web2 📲
think about it - all these use cases for gaming, betting & socials w a slow UX purely bcoz of the delay in generating random no.s #⃣
the giga chads at @Aptos just like re-engineering everything came up w their own native Randomness module to solve for this
heck there is a published research paper on this authored by @alinush @bennypinkas @XiangZhuolun @sourav1547 links down beloww⬇️
@Aptos decoupling of consensus & execution is what makes it possible - the network can first commit txn ordering & revealing randomness later
smth which is not currently possible on other blockchains due to malicious validator intent of altering the block. enter current external VRFs/beacons but what if we can natively do on-chain ⛓️
alsooo external RNGs work on a commit-reveal scheme involving 2 txns so the randomness consumption is not actually Instant but is sent after a few blocks (usually a 30 sec period) reqd for off-chain computation ⌨️
how does this work❓
for randomness we need Unbiasability & Unpredictability 🪄
part 1: weighted distributed key generation: first validators get a share of an encrypted secret key based on their stake before epoch change. this shared secret key can only be reconstructed by 50% or more of the stake
part 2: on new epoch the validators first decrypt this secret key share & then compute VUFs on block unbiasable msgs (round no. & epoch no.). the combined VUF output constitutes the final VUF
this gives us Unpredictability since > 50% stake reqd & secret sharing thru DKG ensuring Unbiasability towards those w stake <50%
a super simple ex of how to use this in your move contract ⏬
While others are still caught up in complicated wallet addresses, at @CrysPayyy, we’re making crypto as easy as sending a text 😎
