No point did I say specifically platformers are what they need to make (and have even clarified such in replies) but even if I did, I fail to see how that’s “degrading.”
You say there’s room for both, but constantly belittle one of the sides? I’m confused.
First, I don’t really like Naughty Dog games (go play indies, they’re cooler).
Second, I’m talking about the style and direction not IP. I like new IP.
Third, if this is what Naughty Dog wants, they don’t want to survive another 10 years.
You can have that opinion.
I like games that are unapologetic about its medium, or better yet celebrate it. To me, minus for RDR2, the list you gave are all works that seem embarrassed to be video games. Just make them films instead.
A required replay can be good design if it’s utilizing a later unlocked character/ability.
Get unlock -> revisit level -> use unlock -> get collectible
Mario 64’s “caps required for certain stars” is a good example of this.
Fan make/break for the game is if it goes for l deeper cut the verses . If they add FreedomFighters then it’s an easy W.
To tame some expectations: IDW-verse is same as game verse and I’d doubt an Archie-verse crossover. Movie-verse is such a no-brainer it’s basically confirmed

Entires in waves are also lumped together as the same thing on the checkout (Samus and Zelda figs are just “Nintendo figure”)
And if there isn’t enough active player’s at a given time the game is “dead”.
Not a fan of this mentality, cause not every game is a constant “play forever” deal - no one applies same rhetoric to movies and books. “Only 13 people are currently watching Goodfellas rn it fell off”
