In 2018, Ukrainian curator Vasyl Cherepanyn (director of the Visual Culture Research Center in Kyiv) organized The European International, a 2018 exhibition for the Forum on European Culture that asked: can international solidarity be created through art?
Artists, graphic designers, and art professionals came together with Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten and @DeBalie in the form of an artist-to-artist aid package on behalf of Vasyl and his colleagues at the Kyiv Biennial's Emergency Support Initiative. esi.kyivbiennial.org/
You can support this effort by purchasing artworks donated by the artists--all proceeds will go directly to help those remaining in Ukraine or relocating abroad to fulfill their basic needs. Please go to the website european.international

Happening as we tweet: Civic Council Warsaw. On how culture and media can safeguard democracy, but also serve as propaganda tools for politicians. @SylwiaGAbram @Gescinska @LZuzanna @Gescinska @YoeriAlbrecht @AnneMarijnEpker @wmilosz

Powerful symbolism needs to complement policy making in Brussels. How can we show that we see those who are marginalized in Europe? Acknowledging the struggles people go through is an important step before new policies can function as solutions.@Gescinska @DeBalie @DutchCulture
.@wmilosz: Getting caught up in law suits is detracting immense amounts of time and resources from the independent journalistic work that @gazeta_wyborcza conducts daily. However, they must continue to ward off those endangering their right to free press. @DeBalie @DutchCulture
