So the city of Austin is no longer giving out rental assistance. Their focus will be eviction management/prevention. They just announced that HUD will be doing away with 30 day notices...which will lead to faster evictions. Can't make this stuff up.

Typically properties don't try to evict unless they absolutely have to. I have seen folks owing thousands before they get taken to court. Thousands doesnt seem like a lot but when your rent is around $825/month...that's a lot of missed payments.

All of this happened because white people and those who look for their acceptance voted against allocating more money to help with affordable housing and programs. Austinites complain about homeless populations but vote against helping the homeless not be homeless.
