This #WorldArthritisDay, let’s look beyond what we can see.
Arthritis is more than joint pain. For millions of people, it affects how they move, work, connect, and experience everyday life.
At the Arthritis National Research Foundation, we’re supporting the scientists working to change that. By funding promising researchers and advancing our understanding of arthritis and related autoimmune diseases, we’re helping move research forward and bringing us closer to better treatments and, one day, a cure.
Because behind every discovery is the possibility of a better tomorrow.
This #WorldArthritisDay, stand with us for a future beyond arthritis.

What if understanding autoimmune disease starts with looking at it one cell at a time?
ANRF-supported researchers are taking a closer look at the individual cells involved in autoimmune disease—uncovering how they behave, interact, and contribute to inflammation.
The more we understand what’s happening at the cellular level, the closer we get to more precise ways to treat disease.
One cell at a time, research is bringing us closer to better answers.

Scleroderma can reach far beyond the skin.
It can affect blood vessels, internal organs, and much more. But researchers are uncovering new clues about what drives the disease—and those discoveries could change how it’s treated.
Join Dr. Laura Polivka and Dr. Brian Skaug for a look at where scleroderma research is headed and what it could mean for the future of care.

What if we could teach the immune system to stop attacking the body—and restore its natural balance?
That’s the question driving new research into autoimmune disease.
ANRF-supported researchers are exploring how the immune system’s built-in safeguards break down and whether restoring those safeguards could lead to more precise, lasting treatments.
The goal isn’t simply to quiet the immune system. It’s to understand how to help it work the way it’s supposed to.

What’s happening inside the kidneys during lupus?
ANRF Scholar Dr. Paul Hoover and his colleagues are getting closer to an answer.
By mapping kidney and blood cells from people living with lupus nephritis, they identified specific immune cells linked to disease activity and kidney scarring.
This work could help researchers find new ways to protect kidney function before lasting damage occurs.
