So - Carrie. Enjoyed the idea of more recent King tropes (The Institute/Firestarter - shady agencies) and modern tech (phones/Instagram) being included. But didn’t think they were handled with enough skill or subtlety; ended up diluting the force of Carrie’s story.

Considering ordering one of these. Window needs changing. Arrange a quote for a like-to-like swap. Wife: “Oh - I’d like rain sensor auto closing.” Arrange new quote. Arrives. “What kind of handle does it have? How does it open?” WHAT DOES SHE THINK LIKE FOR LIKE MEANS?! HELP!!

Ah @AmazonUK - this is stunning. If your driver had put that parcel on the OTHER side of that fence, then it would have been secure. The delivery instructions make it clear this is a school; the gate is locked; ANYWHERE except on the street would have been preferable, surely?

The number of people on local FB groups on the hunt for eclipse glasses is face-palmingly mind-boggling. This event has been in the news for weeks, if not months. Extraordinary levels of complacent ill-preparedness, even for FB!

Hey Storage facilities. Want me to use your services? Let me get a quote without asking for all my contact details. You don’t need my name, number and email to tell me how much it would cost to hire a 60 sq. ft unit for three months, I promise. #gdpr #simplequery

That oddness when your immediate neighbour has lots of people over, & music, & noise - but doesn’t give a heads up. Like, at all. (Had builders in all week with also no notice - that’s a whole other story.) Now praying it’s not one of their ‘special’ events… 🫣

Ordering take away for delivery dishes from a restaurant that doesn’t actually serve that dish … passively aggressively denying me what I want so that we have what the other person wants … C21st equivalent of me not choosing the correct place to eat. Bah.

@eventim_uk @EventimApollo Hi - I have two tickets for James Morrison that I want to transfer to another Eventim account as gifts for his show on Thursday in Hammersmith. There is no link on the tickets to allow this - will this be possible at all? Only on the day maybe??

So - that looks like I will be able to transfer the tickets any time between 00:01 until 11:59am on Thursday - if all goes according to plan? Lot of faith…Thanks for the reply.

@Twickets If I’m selling a ticket, & a buyer makes an offer, & I accept the offer … what happens next? Can anybody still buy the ticket? Can the buyer now just do nothing? I have an outstanding offer on a ticket for a show this afternoon - but no confirmation of a sale yet.

As the media’s guns swing to bear on Polanski while continuing to subject Starmer to barrage after barrage, I DO hope they find time to focus on Farage and other right wing politicians and give them the same scrutiny.

I have the luck to live with 2 people who can just decide "Today? Working from home!" And it is absolutely infuriating, particularly if (like today) you've been awake since their alarm went off at 6am & they decide at 7.30 they're not going in. Day's rhythm GONE!

Making a Knowledge Organiser for your students on the key #GCSE #Lit texts? Adding in useful quotations (great idea)? For goodness' sake also add the name of the character who says those words, & maybe where in the text they occur? Takes minutes; saves hours. #teaching

Oh my God but aren’t people proud of their new ability to stack four pictures on top of each other to make a long picture (sort of, as long as you ignore the horizontal lines that separate each frame…)? Yeah we get it, all very clever, you have a blue tick etc. #enoughnow

I (60, married) have been to Brussels & Vienna with my (55 year old divorced father of two) brother and mum - for 2 nights. I booked everything; it was quite sufficient. As we start planning for mum’s 87th (87TH!) birthday, he drops this tasty nugget. TEN DAYS?! #madness #help

Been reading Stephen King since I was a teen; devoured all of his fiction/non-fiction. But wow am I finding ‘Never Flinch’ a slog. Not sure why he’s settled on this same group of characters, but if I wanted crime fiction, I’d read a crime writer. Just all a bit … flat.

While not having any skin in the game, I’ve been watching the price increase in DDR5 RAM with amazement. Laptops with 8gb of RAM because they’re otherwise too pricey! But reading that #Apple - who made over $110B last year - are thinking of charging MORE for their #iPhones -

Well - it blows the mind. A staggering profit not being used in any way to benefit consumers…

news.sky.com/story/calls-gro… Utterly agree - but when I asked my doctor for the PSA test, he sounded genuinely baffled when I was so insistent. Came back all clear, but why did I have to ask with such certainty? I know it's not a surefire test - but rather that than nothing. #Prostate

#Radiohead Amazing gig - pure musicianship. Almost spoiled by the honking, braying, rich twats behind me talking DURING the songs. Ignored all pleading looks. At least they looked ashamed & went quiet(er) after I - basically a 60 year old man - begged them to stop.
