On Tuesday, 09/08/2026, Chief Chris Settle formally honored Andrew Tuggle, 15, Jackson Castro, 17, and Gavin Cain, 17, for their lifesaving efforts on 07/27/2026 by rescuing 2 adults and a young child from Lake Culpeper. The 3 young men are members of the Easter View golf team that were at the Culpeper Country Club for try-outs when they spotted the capsized kayaks and jumped into action. Chief Chris Settle, along with Mayor Frank Reaves and Town Manager Chris Hively presented these young men the Culpeper Police Department's Lifesaving Award. This is one of the department's highest and most esteemed awards. Our community thanks Gavin, Jackson, and Andrew for their commitment to service and their willingness to help others in need.
