Municipal Governments Do So Much To Screw New Home Buyers But It's Hidden So They Get Away With It
Let's start with the lie that City & Municipal Governments tell about Development Charges on new home builds
They tell everyone that Developers pay these fees
That's a Lie

Always a nice way to finish the week with a patient who has placed their type 2 diabetes in remission (A1c below). How? Early diagnosis, omission of bread, pasta, rice, and use of a FreeStyle Libre for quick feedback on effect of food on glycemia. TG down from 4.5 mmol/L to 1👍😀

You can 'reduce weight' with short-term diets, but you can COMBAT OBESITY through long-term lifestyle & mindset changes.
This takes consistent counseling, monitoring & (like all chronic disease) hard work to manage.
Talk to your physician. Talk to your dietitian. We can help.

I still see young female athletes in my clinic who think it's normal to lose their period during heavy bouts of training. Fired up, I made this infographic to educate coaches, parents, and athletes misconceptions on hormonal contraception & bone health. Feel free to share 🦴💪

This study of #type2diabetes makes a profound and relevant conclusion: the majority of people with T2DM have normal or nearly normal beta-cell mass. It begs the question: why treat with insulin if they're already making it?

Obesity-related cancers are shifting into younger people, which means more $$ and suffering over a longer timespan. They also saw a bigger impact in racial/ethnic minorities (e.g. saw a 198 %increase in obesity-related cancers in middle-aged Hispanic men). conscienhealth.org/2019/09/p…

The problem with many #breakfast studies, is that breakfast usually consisted of muffins and cereal, with no protein or fat.
The question may not be around breakfast in particular but what is actually eaten for breakfast.

Small, cross-over study of 100 vs 250 g carbohydrate for type 1 diabetes.
On low carb diet:
👉same HbA1c
👉less time with low blood glucose
👉less glycemic variability
👉lower body fatness
👉fewer drop-outs
Need large trials of this unconventional approach

Ever notice people w/ very strict diets often identify themselves by that diet (I AM vegan, I AM keto). Most start diet to be healthier, yet frequently I see it used as a tool to sit upon a throne of righteousness & look down at those who eat differently.

Perceptions need to shift from "PhD = knows a lot about one thing" to "PhD = committed to life-long learning." Employers often overlook the fact #PhDs are usually dedicated to learning all sorts of new things - & learning fast!

I wonder if the media will pick this up and report on the implications of eating a high carb diet? Sugar & grains associated with cancer instead of meat which does not raise insulin? 🤔
After 5y of work, excited to post! @annizubc did the first direct test of the insulin-cancer hypothesis. Mice with a modest insulin reduction, but no change in glucose, have 50% less PanIN lesions and reduced inflammation. @ubclifesciences biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
