Writing it into a manual doesn’t work. This knowledge moves one way: he spends time with the next person and teaches them. Most experts never get that time, because their day is still full of routine work like hauling material.
Take the routine work off his schedule. Training his replacement is worth more than his trips.

A plant built a drop zone last year, a workaround to keep a machine running while they figured out the real fix.
This year the same team came back with a different question: how do we get rid of the four trucks completely?
That's not a plant that failed to solve its problem. It's a plant whose workaround ended up writing the requirements doc for what to automate next, about a year before anyone would have called it that.
Read your workarounds before you write the next one. The first one probably already told you what the real fix is.

Day 3 at @packexposhow was another busy one@ We talked with a lot of companies looking to automate material handling in the next few months, and a few themes kept coming up.
1. Companies are ready to move: Businesses of all sizes have active plans to automate material handling.
2. Moving more in one trip matters: Autonomous tuggers can haul multiple carts at once, making them a good fit for moving larger loads than single-pallet AMRs or autonomous forklifts.

Day 2 at PACK EXPO was a great one. Thank you to everyone who stopped by the Cyngn booth to talk tuggers! A few questions kept coming up:
“Do we have to change our facility?” Nope. The tuggers navigate without guide wires, tape, or magnets, so they’re a lot easier to drop into a building that’s already running.
“Can it move more than one load at a time?” Yep. A tugger can pull several carts in one trip, which keeps production supplied without sending a forklift back and forth all day.
“What happens to the people doing that hauling?” They get to spend their time on actual production work instead of driving the same loop on repeat.
