The Democratic Party has always welcomed a diverse group of voices and allowed wise and discerning voters to decide who best represents them. It’s disheartening to see some reject that concept and anoint themselves the arbiter of who gets to call themselves a Democrat.
My latest column: A group of parents on San Francisco’s west side wanted to form a Democratic club and get chartered by the San Francisco Democrats.
But soon, party leaders were grilling them about being secret Republicans and racist — based on nothing.

If @SFDemocrats allows this to stand, it makes a mockery of the endorsement process and encourages future second and third-ranked endorsees to misrepresent the party endorsement in the future.
