The same COMSEC preamble, with a 40-bit fixed block inside a 128-bit IV, shows up on STANAG-4285, MS-110A and STANAG-4539 HF links. Common COMSEC protocol?

US Navy stations on MS-110A 600bps/L send short bursts, each opening with a โ01โ run and the same 32-bit word (0x0A6E14DC), then random-looking data. Encrypted traffic or fill?

2026-10-04 The ๐ท๐บ ๐ฐ UmKA-1 is transmitting that very short, legendary signal from 69 years ago, as a sign of deep respect for the pioneers of space exploration and its great orbital "ancestor".
๐ ๐ Happy World Space Week to all! ๐๐

What If Your ESP32 Could Become an SDR?
ESP-SDR turns supported ESP32 boards into a small software-defined radio receiver.
It gives you access to raw IQ samples from the Wi-Fi radio, letting you see the 2.4 GHz spectrum and waterfall in a browser.
You can explore things like RF signals, spectrum analysis, IQ data and wireless interference without expensive SDR hardware.
The ESP32-C5 is even interesting here because it can work in the 5 GHz band.
A tiny development board suddenly becomes a great tool for learning RF and signal processing.
Would you try SDR on an ESP32?

A signal that keeps circling back: alongside the Russian Navy's T-600/CIS-36-50 family, a new candidate at 11592.0 kHz (FSK 41.6 Bd/200 Hz) doesn't quite fit any known configuration: close enough to be a relative, different enough to stay unidentified.

RST sported a new mode on S-band last night and having a go at recording to do some analysis later tonight.
Its cyclostationary components are very strong and of great interest to my research.
At over 750000km RST is about half way to the Earth-Sun L2 point.

Follow-up: the signal's origin is now confirmed. More interesting though โ the 75bps waveform (S-4415/MS-110A) itself turns out to re-inject its full preamble every 120s, a modification not in the base spec.

Roman Space Telescope (RST) S-band emission. Command echoes on the transponder are fairly loud. The signal appears to be LHCP.

Cyprus HF traffic = DHFCS Akrotiri. That's the reflex attribution in utility monitoring community. But if, this time, it isn't Akrotiri at all? A post about a 75 bps STANAG-4415/MS-110A (not frequent) signal on 18503.0 kHz:
