Action Against Illegal Wildlife Hunting | Anugola Forest Division Demonstrating its continued commitment to wildlife protection and forest conservation, the Anugola Forest Division conducted a successful enforcement operation on 4th November 2026, at Chandrasekharpur village under Talcher Forest Range. Acting on reliable information, the Range Officer (RO), Talcher, led a team that detected an incident of illegal wild boar hunting using electric current. Two accused persons, Nirod Behera (23) and Bipanna Pradhan (32), both residents of Chandrasekharpur village, were identified in connection with the incident. During the operation, approximately 5 kg of GI wire allegedly used for hunting was seized by the Forest Department team. The operation was carried out with the active participation of Forester Jally Dehury, Forest Guard Gaurahari Sethy, Sanjaya Sahu, Elephant Squad member Sharma Rout, and Gajamitra Litu Bhoi. Successful Rescue of Four Wild Boars at Ekagharia Village | Anugola Forest Division Demonstrating prompt action and commitment to wildlife conservation, the Forest Department successfully rescued four wild boars trapped inside a drainage line at Bindal Company in Ekagharia Village, under Talcher Range. Upon receiving information through the Division Control Room, the Talcher Town Section staff, along with the RRT Anugola team, immediately reached the location and carried out the rescue operation. With coordinated efforts and careful handling, all four wild boars were safely rescued. Following the operation, all four animals independently made their way back to their natural habitat. Successful King Cobra Rescue Operation Anugola Forest Division A King Cobra was successfully rescued on 29th October 2026 at around 10:30 PM from Ragudiapada village under Bantala Range. After a health examination by the Mobile Veterinary Unit (MVU) Doctor, the snake was safely released into its natural habitat. The operation was carried out through the dedicated efforts of Forest Guard, Forest Staff ,Elephant Squad, Gaja Mitra, and Sarpamitra, ensuring the safe rescue and return of this magnificent reptile to the wild. Strengthening Rural Livelihoods, Empowering Communities | Anugola Forest Division Anugola Forest Division continues its commitment to empowering forest-dependent communities through sustainable livelihood initiatives. As part of this effort, two papad-making machines were distributed at Chhendipada Range Office to promote self-reliance and create income-generation opportunities, particularly for women Self-Help Groups (SHGs) under the VSS network. A coordination meeting was also held at Hinsara Village under Jarapada Range to review ongoing livelihood activities, assess the progress of sewing machine initiatives, discuss raw material availability for paper plate production, and explore better marketing opportunities for locally produced goods. Encouragingly, the sewing machine initiative generated an income of ₹5,400 during the previous month, reflecting its positive contribution to rural livelihoods. Healthy Livestock, Protected Wildlife | ସୁସ୍ଥ ଗୃହପାଳିତ ପଶୁ, ସୁରକ୍ଷିତ ବନ୍ୟଜନ୍ତୁ The Anugola Forest Division, through its Mobile Veterinary Unit (MVU) Team, organised awareness-cum-vaccination camps across Tumuni, Nunmati, Bhubanpur, and Kumursinga villages, administering a total of 300 vaccine doses to promote livestock health and disease prevention. The camps emphasised timely vaccination, regular deworming, and preventive animal healthcare to safeguard livestock, strengthen rural livelihoods, and reduce the risk of disease transmission between domestic animals and wildlife. Wildlife Rescue, Treatment & Recovery | Anugola Forest Division A Step Towards Compassionate Wildlife Care A monkey rescued from Hamabira village under Khinda Section of Bantala Range was brought to Kulasinga Rescue Center for medical treatment and proper care. The monkey was suffering from maggot-infested wounds on its left foreleg and hindleg. With timely veterinary attention and dedicated care, the wounds were treated, and the monkey is now in good condition. This rescue initiative reflects the continued commitment of Anugola Forest Division towards wildlife protection, animal welfare, and the conservation of nature. Every rescue is a step towards creating a safer environment where wildlife can thrive in harmony with humans.
