Mini Deep-Dive on Tucker Carlson: must read, bookmark for later if you don't have time now
What's really been bugging me about Tucker Carlson's heel turn is the "why" of it...and I think I finally figured it out in a way that is easy to articulate
It started when I listened to the entire 3-hour Shawn Ryan episode with Tucker Carlson from November 24, 2025. Shawn Ryan asks almost no question, so what you hear is Tucker speaking uninterrupted for long stretches. The result is revealing, but not in the way Tucker presents it. There is no gradual awakening on display as we get an insight to his unfiltered train of though...
Rather, what you'll notice is a repeated, highly structured rhetorical pattern that I think explains the transformation we have watched since 2023. He uses the same three-part sequence in every major segment of the podcast...I counted at least 6 or 7 such iterations:
1) I WAS BLIND - He begins with extensive self-criticism: “I was completely wrong for years…I missed the big picture…I was naive and comfortable at Fox.”
2) BUT NOW I SEE - He then describes a specific moment of clarity that now obligates him to speak: “Once I saw it, I couldn’t unsee it…I would be a coward if I stayed quiet.”
3) AND IT'S ALL SO OBVIOUS - He finishes with unqualified certainty: “This is obviously true… I’m not going to lie to you…anyone who looks honestly knows this”
The net effect is a massive credibility shield. The self-deprecation makes him seem introspective and honest, so when he pivots to the rock-solid convictions the audience has already been primed to think, “Well, this guy just admitted all his past mistakes, so he must be telling the truth now.”
It’s a very sophisticated version of the old preacher trick: “I’m the worst sinner in this room…which is exactly how I know the Devil is real.” The humility sounds genuine in the moment, but it's only meant to set up the authoritative declarations that most of us recognize as nonsense
That includes claims that would have been unthinkable from the old Tucker: demonic entities that physically attack people, UFOs as inter-dimensional spiritual beings, 9/11 evidence allegedly proving an inside job, nuclear technology originating from non-human intelligence. These positions did not emerge gradually. They appeared rapidly and simultaneously after his April 2023 departure from Fox.
So this is a first big clue: he is looking to really solidify his credibility with a certain segment of the public and he is leveraging everything in his past to be unassailable to this new audience. He is not trying to convince his old Fox audience...he wants the fringe, but rock-solid believers of the mold of QAnon types
Before this there was the more subtle pre-2023 turn towards being pro-Russia and anti-NATO while he was still at Fox. He was consistently the most sympathetic prime-time voice toward Moscow, repeatedly questioning NATO expansion, giving extended platforms to figures like Douglas Macgregor, and framing Russian actions in Ukraine as understandable responses to provocation. That stance was in place long before the 2022 invasion made it fashionable in certain circles, but was largely lost in the noise as he was the largest voice in Conservative/Republican media
After leaving Fox, he simply removed whatever remaining restraint existed: he traveled to Moscow to interview Putin in February 2024, conducted a follow-up interview with Lavrov in December 2025, and has faced no meaningful pushback from his current audience for either appearance
His audience has changed in a way that is difficult to explain as simple ideological evolution. The new viewers and listeners treat any potential negative revelation about Tucker (financial, personal, or otherwise) as definitionally false, a deep-state fabrication before the evidence even surfaces
That level of reflexive defense is not the natural result of shared principles. It is the product of deliberate relocation to a media environment where loyalty is absolute and skepticism is directed only outward
Recent events make the stakes clearer. Charlie Kirk was assassinated on September 10, 2025. In the Shawn Ryan interview, Tucker describes Kirk’s death as the pivotal event that forced him to speak uncomfortable truths. Yet this week, when Erika Kirk appeared on national television pleading for an end to the conspiracy theories that have produced death threats against her and her children, Tucker did not urge restraint. He repeated several of Candace Owens’s claims (Egyptian aircraft shadowing Erika Kirk, unexplained foreign phones at the crime scene) and presented them as legitimate areas of inquiry. The practical effect is to keep the speculation alive and the traffic flowing
He conducts no adversarial interviews. Every major sit-down since leaving Fox has been with figures who either share his worldview or represent governments that are hostile or neutral to the United States: Putin, Lavrov, the Prime Minister of Qatar. Last week in Doha he announced he is purchasing property there, dismissed accusations of Qatari influence, and was photographed drinking while giving the middle finger to protesters calling him a paid agent
Taken together, the pattern is consistent and specific: a rapid ideological migration to the furthest fringe, cultivation of an audience that will reject any future accusation out of hand, and deepening ties to foreign capitals with deep pockets
The rhetorical loop heard throughout the Shawn Ryan episode (confess past error, claim moral obligation, assert absolute truth) is the mechanism that makes all of it credible to the new audience. None of this requires proof of a specific compromising tape or payment. It only requires recognition that the behavior fits, with precision, the profile of someone who has concluded that his old position is no longer tenable and has engineered a new one that is effectively scandal-proof
Put more simply, there are things out there about Tucker that would make him toxic to his old Fox audience if it ever came out. So what he has done is shift to a conspiratorial audience that will never believe any credible allegations against him...and developed a source of revenue from this new audience as well as foreign patrons to ensure that his career (and finances) move forward. Tucker is actually trying to preserve his empire
I have no proof that the Russians have kompromot on Tucker...but the pattern is certainly consistent with somebody that
The substance of the Shawn Ryan interview is not revelation. It is the audible construction of Tuckers new persona, one monologue at a time
