This is totally dishonest. The White House didnโt work with Pope Leo XIV on securing this temporary ceasefire.
Leo XIV was involved with this for months.
Even while he was in the hospital recovering from lung cancer surgery, he called Putin and then Zelenskyy.
The pope wasnโt a supporting actor. He was the protagonist.
More than a name ๐๐ค๐ฉต
A shared Celtic heritage.
We sat down with @CelticFC historian Ben Burns to explore the origins of the club's name, its Gaelic roots and the cultural connections behind it.

In the summer it was revealed that Celtic had finalised a long-term strategy "to be the best club in Scotland, to be financially sound and to compete in Europe".
Is this anything different to what it was before? Aren't there specific targets to reach in the #UEL that are different from the #UCL? Success becomes subjective if the generic message is just to "compete".
Unless the club are automatically in the Champions League they don't seem to invest for Europe.
When they were knocked out UCL play-offs to LASK Linz, spending basically stopped - just Joel van den Berg was bought. The rest of the squad was patched up by loans and one free transfer.
They haven't 'competed' in the Europa League/UEFA Cup for 22 years, when they last won a knockout tie. This is a tournament where Celtic do have the financial muscle to go far in, but they don't really push the boat out on signings if they're out of the UCL.
While success in the UCL can be measured by getting out of the League Phase, the target should be different for the Europa League - not the same.
Two seasons ago Celtic were in the knockouts of the UCL, last season it was the knockouts of the UEL and this season they are on course to not make it out of the UEL League Phase - this is constant regression.
Celtic need a long-term strategy that puts European football - and specific targets to monitor success in it - at the forefront of everything they do, before they become a total nonentity outside of Scotland.

"During the more than 80 days [in Netzarim, Gaza] we were there, my brigade killed 160 to 170 people. Only one man was suspected of carrying a weapon. No one saw the weapon."
We collaborated with Der Spiegel to publish testimonies from ten soldiers who served in Gaza. Here are some excerpts from their testimonies:
NAZA-300: Up to 300 Civilians Authorised to be killed as Collateral Damage
"When it came to high-ranking officers, several hundred civilian casualties were allowed for a certain attack. I remember the case of Ibrahim Biari, the Hamas commander in Jabalia. [...] A few hours before the attack on October 31, 2023, our commander gathered us all around and told us that the chief of staff had decided to actually attack the place and it was potential for collateral damage of 300 civilians. The attack was eventually carried out."
Rules of Engagement:
"Someone reported that there was a Hamas spotter on the roof of a building. A drone was sent there, and the pilot said: 'This person is hanging laundry.' An officer replied: 'Palestinian men donโt hang laundry. He must be a spotter.' The drone pilot said again: 'No, heโs standing with his back to us and hanging laundry.' Then the officer of the tank unit that was part of our combat force said: 'I have a clear shot. Can I fire?'
The commander asked: 'Can you see the spotter?' By then, he was definitely a spotter, a 'Tatzpitan.' The commander gave the order to fire.' About 20 minutes later, ambulances raced to the building and began evacuating the wounded and the dead. A little later, I saw a report on an Israeli news website: Palestinians claim that 12 members of a family have been killed.
Thatโs how itโs always phrased: 'claim.' And I thought: that was us."
Human Shields:
"While I was on duty in Rafah, I witnessed the use of human shields, known as "mosquitoes.โ I saw two or three of them: young Palestinian men clad only in shoes and underwear, blindfolded and with their hands bound. In the houses that served as our camps, music from the radio was constantly blaring so that they couldnโt hear anything. They were sent ahead into tunnels and houses, and during their missions they had to wear Israeli military uniforms and GoPro cameras."
Retroactive Incrimination:
Whenever people are killed or injured, the armyโs first response is to try to link them to Hamas. Thatโs because saying the people killed were Hamas terrorists looks better in the eyes of the world. We call this process 'retroactive incrimination.' [...] In the case of the attack on journalists at [the Nasser] hospital, the first [the IDF's] statement said that six Hamas terrorists had been killed. It said the target was military and posed a threat to the soldiers. The soldiers referred to it as a 'Hamas camera,' because Hamas could use it to see everything happening nearby. Their aim was to take out cameras like that. But the Reuters cameraman they targeted was not a terrorist. They killed a legitimate journalist."
Destruction of Buildings:
"Is one building the tallest in our sector? We destroy it because it could pose a threat. But then the next-tallest building becomes the tallest, and so it goes on until everything is destroyed. At first, we were told to destroy individual buildings. Later, we were assigned an entire area"
"When we used civilian homes as a base, we were often told to set the house on fire as we withdrew. That didnโt destroy the building completely, but it made it uninhabitable. We understood that the point was to prevent the residents from returning."

In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgent to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity.

NEW: According to a bombshell report in the New York Times, Anthropic co-founder Chris Olah threatened to walk out of Pope Leo XIVโs AI encyclical launch in May because the pope rejected the idea that machines can be conscious.
Olahโs team then privately lobbied the popeโs advisers โto take the possibility of model consciousness seriously.โ Pope Leo XIV held firm.
For months, Anthropic has wined and dined theologians and religious scholars under nondisclosure agreements, hoping they would bless the idea that Claude has moral standing. thelettersfromleo.com/p/nyt-โฆ

And moral cowards are those leaders of the world who repeatedly go against and disrespect international law.

I witnessed Oct 7th at first-hand from the 2nd highest block near my apartment in Rimal, then examined the Nova site, and photographed what actually happened. Cf my earlier post with link to my Medium article in English. The narrative sold to the West is a total stitch-up. Cockpit footage leaked from the 14 Apaches that made two passes from about 2pm, firing missiles and belt machine guns indiscriminately, along with footage of Merkava 5 tanks firing, reveals the source of the mass slaughter of civilians and the total destruction of 1000 vehicles, leaving only charred, unrecognisable bodies. This was a deliberate deception to legitimate the long-planned Genocide and Settlement of Gaza.
