I know we have officially hit "don't buy tickets to show up Woody part of the season" so I will do my annual take on this before heading back to MetLife this Sunday.
- NFL owners are part of a revenue sharing model with most of their money coming from league wide broadcast, licensing and sponsorship deals
- Local revenue is also shared but the biggest chunk the owners maintain is the luxury suites and boxes already bought out for years in advance by other sponsors/companies.
- The gameday gate (parking, food, etc) is pennies in the grand scheme of things and has no bearing on the sky rocketing valuation of all these organizations including the Jets
- I understand the optics of showing an empty stadium or a stadium with opposing fans - This has been the case consistently for 15+ years and I don't believe it phases ownership who is only periodically at games anyway.
- I understand wanting to take out the frustration on something you control but I don't believe in telling other fans how to fan. You want to root for the tank? Root away, enjoy. You want to root for wins? God bless, enjoy. How you root has zero impact on outcome so have fun how you need to. You want to spend your earned money to spend time with your family and friends on a football game? Enjoy it. You want to shut off all NFL products because you are mad the Jets can't tackle? I get it.
