A1. To me, alternative assessments are assessments that really focus on the six Cs of learning - they are non traditional (ie. paper pencil tasks) and can incorporate a wide variety of other skills. Here are some assessments I regularly use with students. #NLMathChat

Orange Shirt Day should not be a called or turned into a “celebration”. It is our Remembrance Day. We honour and observe. This day represents many lost children and widespread intergenerational trauma. Its a time to learn and reflect. #EveryChildMatters – at Woodstock, Ontario

One of my favorite things about school culture… is that everyone gets to contribute to it. It is not just a reflection of the administration or the leadership team; it is a reflection of everyone.

10 hours a day --all over the world--I have never seen such a diverse group converge on the same theme--learn about and improve the world---so much energy and insight. Exciting to be part of this bonanza!
Day 2 of @DeepLearningSV continues with @marksparvell and his inspirational work around #deeplearning #NPDL @NewPedagogies ! Let’s do this @NLESDCA @MichaelFullan1

Some of these seem so simple, yet can be so difficult during the school year! A great reminder that you can’t fill from an empty cup. Which of these goals will you focus on in the first few weeks?

St. Isidore Toy Drive had a successful first day! Thanks to these #WCDSBawesome Ts who stood out in the cold & wind to greet families as they dropped off donations. It was so great to actually see some of our kiddos and families in person!! There are two more drop off days left.

Imagination...
Sparking creativity is always light in the darkness. In difficult times, we must nurture creativity more, not just go back to basics. Hope and possibility are two outcomes for creative people, and imagination is a tool for Ss and educators. #CelebrateCreativity #CelebrateMonday

Today I am grateful for nature and my pup. I spent my weekend taking care of myself so that I can be the best teacher for my students 🥰 what did you do to recharge this weekend?

Chromebooks are coming soon!! They are prepped, cleaned and ready for distribution. Any @IsidoreVirtual students who requested a Chromebook for learning should be hearing from their HOMESCHOOL today or tomorrow to set up a pick-up time. @WCDSBNewswire

I came across this today and thought about the friends and colleagues that I know who choose courage over comfort every single day...the change agents. The ground keeps shifting but we've got this! #wcdsbawesome #courage #umbrellaskills

It was a very different goodbye to our Ss this year but our STAR spirit was shining through. Big smiles, cute gifts and sweet (physically distant) conversations kept spirits high. The past three days were a success because of our awesome staff teamwork. ⭐️ #distancelearning2020

Using “Thought Exchange” to hear the important thoughts of our staff as we think about ending this unprecedented school year. Now we can plan how to effectively support this awesome team. #distancelearning2020 @thoughtxchng
